In the context of cybersecurity, AI is becoming increasingly important in defending online systems from cybercriminals’ assaults and unauthorised access attempts. AI systems, when properly taught, can detect cyber threats automatically, create warnings and discover new strands of malware while securing crucial company data. Looking at its diverse use cases, various companies globally are adopting AI as a key tool for strengthening their security strategy

Need for AI in Strengthening Cybersecurity

Rapid technological advancement is accompanied by growing obstacles in the digital realm. Concern over cybersecurity has grown among both consumers and businesses. Moreover, conventional security techniques are ineffective against contemporary cyber threats. According to Check Point Research report, around 3201 cyberattacks were launched against Indian organisations per week. This increasing number of threats has necessitated the integration of AI in cybersecurity, assisting organisations in safeguarding their data more efficiently

AI can analyse massive volumes of data in real time and detect trends that might create possible threats. AI-powered systems can consistently learn from fresh data and improve their detection skills by utilising machine learning techniques. This allows organisations to detect novel threats promptly and effectively.

Another way by which AI improves threat detection is by leveraging its potential to recognise abnormalities. While traditional signature-based approaches rely on recognising well-known attack patterns or signatures, AI excels in detecting unusual behaviour by analysing past data and comparing it to present network activity.
