Big C’s Challenges and Requirements

Big C Mobiles operates through multiple retail stores that are spread across Telangana, Andra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. They intend to set up more stores as they look to expand their product offerings that include IoT & connected devices, smart TVs, air purifiers and more. Big C Mobiles had leveraged Cloud services through a Cloud Service Provider (CSP) to improve management, analysis of data which they gathered through their stores but had started facing issues with existing CSP during expansion of their business.

With changing business plans, Big C Mobiles were in dire need to migrate with a CSP that could provide reliable and exceptional IT services to support their business expansion. They wished to connect with a CSP who had experience of serving retail organizations, hosting large HANA instances and most importantly, a CSP that will provide best technical support.

The Solution

Big C Mobiles had underlined their IT requirements and their search for a new CSP had commenced. They were communicating with other retail houses in their city who were aware about ESDS’s capabilities. Eventually, one of ESDS’s existing retail client from Hyderabad suggested Big C Mobiles to get in touch with ESDS and recognize if they can be a suitable service provider or not. After a few days of consideration, they contacted ESDS’s regional sales personnel to understand more about ESDS’s solution capabilities and experience in serving similar organizations.

As the discussions advanced, Big C Mobiles shared their requirements with ESDS’s Pre-sales team. ESDS’s team gave Big C Mobiles’ IT team a holistic view of ESDS capabilities. ESDS hosts various customers across multiple industries on ESDS SAP HANA Community Cloud and based on this experience, Big C were convinced about the ESDS HANA Community Cloud.

Solution proposal designed by ESDS’s Pre-sales team submitted to Big C Mobiles gave them information about ESDS’s SAP HANA platform. As ESDS is SAP certified by SAP SE in SAP HANA operations and cloud and infrastructure operations, Big C Mobiles considered ESDS solutions and chose ESDS as their cloud service provider. After reviewing all the requirements, ESDS proposed SAP HANA Community Cloud (SHCC). SAP HANA (high-performance analytic appliance) is an in-memory database, developed by SAP SE, whose primary function is to store and retrieve data as requested by the applications. SAP Basis administrators are responsible for ensuring continuous communication between systems, scheduling, upgrading and installing system upgrades, backups, etc. (Source: Ken Research Report). ESDS’s technical support team provided the solution after considering Big C Mobile’s future business growth and provided optimal resource utilization costing aimed at reducing the overall cost of hosting.
