Empowering Paths: From Sustainable Design to Real Estate Leadership and Women’s Advocacy

CXOToday has engaged in exclusive interview with Ms. Amrita Gupta, Director of Manglam Group and Founder President of CREDAI Rajasthan Women’s Wing

  1. Can you share with us the journey that led you to your current roles as Director of Manglam Group and Founder & President of CREDAI Rajasthan Women’s Wing?

My journey into real estate and advocacy began with a passion for sustainable design, cultivated during my Master’s in Sustainable Design Projects from SCAD, Atlanta. I envisioned a future where real estate seamlessly integrates with nature, fostering harmony and reducing our ecological footprint. Following my passion, I worked extensively in the design and interior business with Amrita Gupta Designs. Joining Manglam Group allowed me to channel this passion further into action, leading various residential and commercial projects. I have established an in-house design team and delivered 150 units so far. Recognizing the need for gender inclusivity, I founded CREDAI Rajasthan Women’s Wing in 2019 to promote women’s inclusion in real estate. Through perseverance and dedication, I have worked to empower women in the sector and advocate for their equal participation and recognition.

  1. What are your key challenges when you started CREDAI’s Rajasthan Women Wing and how you addressed them?

The key challenge initially was garnering support and participation from women in the real estate sector, especially in traditionally male-dominated regions like Rajasthan. To address this, we organized awareness campaigns, networking events, and mentorship programs aimed at encouraging women’s active involvement. By providing platforms for women to connect, learn, and grow, we were able to overcome initial barriers and establish a strong foundation for the Women’s Wing. In fact, the success of CREDAI’s Rajasthan Women Wing motivated us to extend its activities to other states. Today, we have 300 members in Rajasthan and 650+ members in other states.

  1. Can you please share some of the initiatives you have taken to empower women in the real estate industry and women’s advocacy? Furthermore, how do you envision the role of women evolving in the real estate sector, and what kind of obstacles and opportunities do you foresee for them?

Over the years, we have initiated various programs such as networking events, skill-building workshops, and advocacy campaigns to empower women in real estate. These initiatives aim to increase women’s visibility, provide mentorship opportunities, and address systemic barriers they face. I envision women playing more prominent roles in decision-making and leadership positions within the sector. However, obstacles such as cultural biases and limited access to financing remain challenges. By promoting inclusivity, advocating for equal opportunities, and providing support networks, we can overcome these obstacles and create a more diverse and equitable industry.

  1. Can you discuss some of the key projects or initiatives undertaken by Manglam Group that prioritize gender equality and women’s empowerment?

At Manglam Group, we prioritize gender equality and women’s empowerment through various initiatives. We create inclusive work environments that provide equal opportunities for career growth and development. Additionally, we support women entrepreneurs and businesses through partnerships and collaborations. Our commitment to gender equality extends beyond the workplace, as we actively engage with communities to promote women’s empowerment through education, skill-building, and entrepreneurship programs.

  1. Can you share some effective time management strategies you use in your busy schedule? What are the challenges you face and how do you overcome them?

Effective time management is crucial in balancing my professional and personal commitments. I prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, utilizing techniques like time-blocking and delegation to optimize productivity. One challenge I face is maintaining a work-life balance amidst demanding schedules. To overcome this, I set boundaries, practice self-care, and prioritize activities that align with my personal values and well-being. By staying organized and mindful of my time, I ensure that I can fulfill my responsibilities effectively while nurturing my personal life.

  1. What advice would you give to young women aspiring to leadership roles in traditionally male-dominated industries like real estate?

My advice to young women aspiring to leadership roles is to believe in themselves, seek mentorship, and embrace opportunities for growth and learning. It’s essential to cultivate confidence, resilience, and assertiveness while navigating challenges and overcoming barriers. Additionally, building strong networks and allies within the industry can provide invaluable support and guidance on the path to leadership. By staying true to their passions and aspirations, women can make significant contributions to traditionally male-dominated sectors like real estate and pave the way for future generations of leaders.

  1. In your opinion, what are the most effective strategies for promoting diversity and inclusivity within the real estate sector, particularly at leadership levels?

Promoting diversity and inclusivity within the real estate sector requires a multifaceted approach. Implementing inclusive hiring practices, providing leadership training programs, and fostering a culture of respect and equality are essential strategies. Creating mentorship and sponsorship programs for underrepresented groups can help bridge the gap and facilitate career advancement opportunities. Additionally, promoting the visibility and recognition of diverse voices and perspectives within the industry can challenge existing norms and biases. By championing diversity and inclusivity at all levels, the real estate sector can harness the full potential of its talent pool and drive innovation and growth in the industry.
