CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Atharva Puranik and Pranay Chouhan, Co-founders of Padhle

  1. How did the idea for “Padhle” originate, and what was the initial vision behind creating a tech-driven learning platform?

Padhle was established by two friends, Mr. Atharva Puranik and Mr. Pranay Chouhan with a deep understanding of the changing educational landscape and a belief in the need for a shift in traditional teaching methods. The co-founders noticed that the usual focus on memorization and academic scores might not adequately prepare students for the variety of career options in today’s dynamic world.

The goal of the 21-year-old founders was to create an innovative, technology-driven learning platform to address these educational challenges. A key aspect of this vision was to democratise education, especially during challenging times like the global Covid-19 crisis.

Padhle’s mission emphasizes making the learning process enriching, enjoyable, and accessible. The platform seeks to convey concepts in a language that students can easily understand, creating an environment similar to a friendly conversation rather than lengthy lectures. The initiative to provide free handwritten notes during the pandemic highlights the startup’s commitment to supporting students during difficult times, enhancing the overall educational journey. In essence, the startup aspires to revolutionize education by combining technology, critical thinking, and a student-centric approach to create a more effective and engaging learning platform.

  1. How does Padhle leverage technology to make learning more engaging, especially considering its focus on memes, common lingo, and handmade materials?

The Edtech Startup employs a diverse technological approach to transform the learning experience, encouraging engagement through a combination of innovative strategies. By incorporating memes, slang, and conversational tones into study materials, the platform moves away from traditional formalities, creating a more friendly and relatable atmosphere. Using technology, Padhle utilizes online resources and interactive content to ensure a dynamic learning environment. The platform is dedicated to providing personalized learning experiences, tailoring education to individual needs for greater accessibility and adaptability.

The inclusion of common language and memes serves two purposes. It helps bridge the generational and cultural gap between educators and students, establishing a more informal and approachable relationship. Additionally, it takes advantage of humour and relatability to enhance memory retention and overall comprehension. Handmade materials add a unique touch, signaling a departure from standardized content.

  1. Does Padhle utilize data analytics or user feedback to enhance its teaching methodologies or content delivery? How does technology play a role in continuous improvement?

The commitment to resolving even minor inconveniences underscores the organization’s dedication to ensuring a seamless and effective learning experience for its users. In terms of data analytics, the startup utilizes insights that are derived from user interactions with the platform to identify patterns, preferences, and areas for improvement. This analytical approach allows the Edtech venture to make informed decisions regarding content optimization, feature enhancements, and overall platform usability.

  1. Could you elaborate on the technological infrastructure of “Padhle,” including its mobile application, web platform, and YouTube presence?

In the beginning, the two founders independently handled all aspects of the educational platform. They performed tasks such as gathering notes from online sources, scanning and uploading content to their YouTube channel, and creating entertaining videos to simplify complex concepts. The recorded tutorials, presented in a conversational style, became widely popular. Starting with Classes 8, 9, and 10, they gradually expanded to include Classes 11 and 12. Initially, the young founders operated on a free module system and relied on ad revenue and donations to fund the creation of educational material. This material included booklets with concise explanations of NCERT topics, complemented by memes for better understanding.

Despite their initial intention not to be traditional teachers but rather supportive revision companions, they recently introduced fee-based packages. These packages charge Rs 3499 for classes 9 and 10, and they offer an Rs 800 crash course covering essential concepts in a short timeframe. Their YouTube channels, collectively named Padhle, have gathered a subscriber base of 1.5 million, and their paid modules have attracted over 10,000 + enrolled students. The 21-year-old founders conduct weekly Zoom sessions, catering to both free and paid subscribers, to encourage interactive learning experiences.
