- What is the key technology infrastructure behind OMTV app that allows for seamless streaming?
System is using multiple technologies. Web frontend is in Laravel. Android is Java/Kotlin .IOS is in Swift. Backend uses multi tech: i.e Java, python, C++ etc OMTV utilizes cloud technologies to ensure system stability, availability, and scalability. To further enhance this, we have adopted a multi-cloud approach. To optimize video compression without compromising quality, OMTV uses modern video compression algorithms. We ensure smooth and buffer-free content streaming to our users through ABR streaming using tier 1 CDNs. Users can enjoy content of their choice on any device, any time.
2. With the increasing popularity of smart TVs and connected devices, how does OMTV ensure compatibility and offer a consistent user experience
To ensure compatibility and offer a consistent user experience across smart TVs and connected devices, OMTV has developed Cross-platform App Development: OMTV is present on the entire viewing ecosystem like Android TV, play store, app store and web application. We are further developing our fire stick and OEM apps to widen the user experience across different devices.
Additionally with our association with Phando technologies we have upgraded our User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) with a focus on simplicity, intuitiveness, and ease of use across various devices. This includes employing standard navigation patterns, clear labeling, and logical content organization to offer a consistent experience.We also have a Device Detection and Feature Support where OMTV’s app or website has a device detection techniques to identify the capabilities and limitations of the user’s device. Based on this information, OMTV can tailor the available features and video quality options to ensure compatibility and optimize the streaming experience for each device.
3. How does OMTV handle bandwidth fluctuations and optimize video streaming quality to ensure smooth playback even in low network conditions?
ABR is a key technology used to adapt video streaming quality based on the viewer’s available bandwidth. OMTV encodes video content into multiple quality levels or bitrates and divides it into small segments. The streaming client then dynamically selects the appropriate bitrate based on the viewer’s network conditions, device capabilities, and other factors. This ensures that the video playback remains smooth and uninterrupted, even when the network bandwidth fluctuates. Also we have global CDNs to distribute video content across multiple servers located in different geographic regions. CDNs help reduce latency and improve streaming performance by delivering content from servers closest to the viewer’s location.
We have been given google free credits as a winner of NSA 2022 awardee to utilise the cloud space. OMTV also has caching mechanisms to store frequently accessed video content closer to the viewer’s location. This reduces the reliance on network transfers for repeated requests, thereby improving playback performance, especially in areas with limited bandwidth.
4. What measures does OMTV take to protect user data and ensure the privacy and security of user information, especially in light of recent concerns around data breaches and cybersecurity?
Although, Phando as a SAAS platform provider has a very robust security system . They are managing almost 30 OTT platforms and none of them have ever had a complaint about the security breach.. the data privacy has been their utmost priority. Speaking specifically about OMTV, we have additionally implemented secure authentication mechanisms, such as two-factor authentication (2FA), to verify user identities and prevent unauthorized access to user accounts. Robust access controls and permission management systems are employed to ensure that only authorized individuals have access to user data.
5. How OMTV curates and selects content for its library, considering factors like user preferences, viewer ratings, and emerging trends?
OMTV gathers user feedback and ratings through various mechanisms such as user surveys, ratings, reviews, or thumbs-up/down options from our youtube channel . Analyzing user preferences and ratings helps OMTV understand which content is popular and well-received by its audience.OMTV has employed personalization algorithms to recommend content to individual users based on their viewing history, preferences, and demographic information. Recently OMTV conducted a trend analysis and market research to identify emerging content trends, genres, or themes that are gaining popularity. 80% of the youth is watching spiritual content and this trend is growing ..By staying informed about current trends and audience preferences, OMTV proactively curate content that aligns with the latest interests and demands of its user base.Since we are in the space of spirituality and this is very niche genre where we need to be more responsible about the content which we are posting and creating for our audience . so our content curation teams or experts who are knowledgeable about spiritual and religious genres, cultural trends, and audience preferences decide the programming strategy. We manually review and curate content for the library, ensuring a diverse and engaging collection.
6. What are the unique technological innovations or features that set OMTV app apart from other OTT platforms in the market?
Currently I can say that we are at par with the OTT industry tech deliverance .primarily we were a B2C company but now we are also B2B company .We have integrated apps with other OTT platforms like 1OTT a Marathi entertainment platform where we have a content barter deal. With many OTT aggregators we are tying up like play box tv , Nxt Digital etc.. having said that the shear difference can be the genre that we are in . OMTV is a one stop destination for anything and everything about Indian culture . Other OTT platforms are in the entertainment sector and even if they have infotainment content it is not rich enough and gets lost with other high drama content . We at OMTV provide this need gap of watching something clean and family viewing with the latest cutting edge technology that the user has a similar experience but end of the day its enriching itself with more gyan and grav about the indic culture.
7.Looking ahead, what technological advancements or enhancements can viewers expect from OMTV in terms of user experience?
We at OMTV are also dedicated to developing unique features that enhance the horoscope delivery experience for our consumers. One of our innovations includes AI-generated content that is curated specifically for each user. Every morning, OMTV users will receive a personalized message prompting them to visit the app to discover their horoscope for the day. This not only adds convenience but also increases daily active user (DAU) engagement. Furthermore, we are actively working on leveraging AR/VR technologies to provide a more immersive experience for temple darshans (visits). Our goal is to revolutionize the way temple darshans are traditionally experienced in the country. By incorporating AR/VR, we aim to transform the landscape of temple visits, offering users an enriched and interactive journey. Additionally, we are excited to introduce OMTV Shorts, a feature that allows users to create their own user-generated content (UGC). With the help of AI, we will implement content filtering algorithms to ensure that only the most relevant and suitable UGC is delivered to our users. This empowers our community to actively participate and contribute to the content ecosystem of OMTV.
