In Conversation with Chandrakala Bobba, Director, Bobba Group on how Bobba Logistics is revolutionizing the logistics industry

1. Will technology and automation in the warehousing industry help reduce logistics expenditures?

Yes, technology and automation in the warehousing industry can help reduce logistics expenditures in several ways. For instance, with the use of automation and technology, it is easier to track inventory levels and reduce excess inventory, which can result in significant cost savings. Automated systems such as conveyor belts, robotics, and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) can increase the speed and accuracy of material handling, resulting in faster processing times and reduced labor costs.

Advanced technologies such as sensors, RFID, and GPS can provide real-time visibility of goods throughout the supply chain, enabling better planning and optimization of logistics operations. Overall, the use of technology and automation in the warehousing industry can help reduce logistics expenditures by increasing efficiency, improving inventory management, optimising warehouse layout, and enhancing supply chain visibility.

2. Can Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) increase efficiencies while reducing cost of operations ?

AI and ML can help businesses increase efficiencies while reducing the cost of operations by predicting maintenance needs, forecasting demand, automating processes, improving quality control, and optimizing operations. Repetitive and time-consuming processes can be automated, freeing up employees to focus on higher-value tasks. It can analyze data to predict demand, allowing for better inventory management and reducing waste.

The AI and ML algorithms can analyze data to optimize processes such as production planning, scheduling, and logistics, reducing costs and increasing efficiencies and it can analyze data in real-time to identify quality issues before they become significant, reducing waste and improving product quality.

3. What is the future of tech intervention in the logistics industry?

The future of tech intervention in the logistics industry is promising and likely to have a significant impact on how goods are transported and delivered. Self-driving trucks and drones are already being tested for package delivery. As the technology improves, autonomous vehicles are likely to become more prevalent in the logistics industry, reducing the need for human drivers and increasing efficiency.

Augmented Reality can be another trend to look out for, it can be used to improve the accuracy of order picking in warehouses and reduce errors. AR- powered glasses can guide workers through the picking process, reducing the time and cost of training new employees. Overall, the future of tech intervention in the logistics industry is exciting, and these trends are likely to revolutionize the way goods are transported and delivered, making logistics operations more efficient, transparent, and cost-effective.

 4. How can tech intervention such as Morpho wave technology, advanced Surveillance systems improve monitoring and how is Bobba Logistics using it?

Morpho wave technology and advanced surveillance systems can improve monitoring in logistics operations by providing real-time tracking and monitoring of goods, vehicles, and personnel.

Bobba Logistics uses in house warehouse Management Software System supplemented with customized AI to bring efficiency with safety and security to the forefront for both customers to track real time data of their cargo and our in house team to minimize congestion with seamless operations.

At Bobba Logistics, we believe that a certain value can only be added to the equation by a certain amount of human participation so we haven’t completely automated our processes. However, we have introduced internal applications in the operations and warehouse management procedures that were not accessible before 2008 in any of the air cargo terminals in India. Since then, we’ve implemented specialised solutions like biometric access control systems with Morpho wave technology and face recognition, advanced surveillance systems to enhance monitoring, and programmes to regulate vehicular movement, lowering overall dwell times.

5. How important is Big Data for Logistics Automation ?

Big Data is crucial for logistics automation as it allows logistics companies to analyze and optimize operations using vast amounts of data. With Big Data analytics, logistics companies can predict demand, optimize inventory management, and anticipate maintenance needs, improving overall efficiency and reducing costs.

Overall, Big Data is critical for logistics automation as it enables logistics companies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction. By leveraging Big Data analytics, logistics companies can gain a competitive advantage and stay ahead of the curve in an increasingly competitive market.
