Park Place Technologies is very well aware about how vast and rapidly growing India’s market is

CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with Mohammed Atif – Director of Business Development at Park Place Technologies

  1. What are your views on the impact of 5G deployment on the expansion of data centres in India?

India has made strides in advancing industries and delivery of services on the back of the ‘Digital India Mission’ since 2018. According to a report by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, in partnership with McKinsey, the ‘Digital India’ initiative is expected to boost the country’s digital economy to USD 1 trillion by 2025. Service providers and private companies will continue to assess the most cost–effective ways to boost capacity and capability for 5G implementation plans. When it comes to the data centre, 5G offers faster access to information, which will lead to more edge data centre deployments.

  1. How Generative AI could drive the demand for high-performance computing and data centres in India?

India is critical for two reasons. First, from a market perspective, India is a very important data centre market. When I think about high-growth markets, I believe India’s datacentre market is going to grow substantially, more than some of its peers. Big companies like Microsoft, Google, and AWS are making huge investments in datacentre business in India. AI capabilities are growing rapidly. Companies have been focused on incorporating AI technology into their products to provide pervasive, high-performance power-efficient AI across their entire portfolio. People are becoming aware of what large language models and generative AI models can do. ChatGPT is the recent most obvious example. This will have a tremendous impact across a wide range of knowledge sets. Tasks that previously nobody thought computers could do, will get automated. India is going to see an explosion of very large generative models that are domain specific.

  1. Amid the age of AI and ML, why do you think enterprises will leverage Network Management Tools along with other emerging technologies in data centres?

Companies/Users are always looking for Tools/Solutions that can help them maintain their data centres easily. Most of the employees are back in office now and networking has again come in picture. Any day Networks play an important role in every organisation as all communication as based on networks. AI and ML are now being used to develop these tools and hence helping organisation to keep uptime in their data centres.

  1. Why do you think there has been a greater interest in boosting data centre efficiency in India from policymakers and regulators?

India is very attractive for international companies to invest in because of its favourable business environment. I also think India is also being thoughtful and innovative. For instance, the idea to have data embassies that will function like embassies with a different set of regulatory regimes within this datacentre space is a very innovative idea. I think this move will go a long way towards making India uniquely attractive to companies around the world.

  1. Why is there a growing demand from customers for the cloud as a platform for digital transformation?

By embracing the cloud, your business can modernise its IT infrastructure and start to think about how it might serve customers digitally in new and potentially innovative ways. The theory behind digital transformation is the same for all organisations, whether small or large. The aim is to use technology not just to replicate an existing service in a digital form, but to use technology to transform that service into something significantly better.

  1. What are your thoughts on green data centres? Do you think there is a need towards sustainable data centres in India?

Green data centres are repositories for data storage, management, and dissemination in which all systems, including mechanical and electrical systems, are energy efficient. They produce fewer carbon footprints, which saves money and improves efficiency. Yes, according to rating agency ICRA, the capacity of the Indian data centre industry is slated to rise by a factor of five, with 3,900–4,100 MW of capacity, including investments of Rs. 1.05–1.20,000 crore, to be added during the next five years. Keeping in mind the significant expansion of data centres in the pipeline, the time has come for businesses to focus on “environmental sustainability.”

  1. How will Park Place Technologies help to scale India’s digital transformation in 2023? What are Park Place Technologies future plans for India?
