Wipro Appoints Anup Purohit as Chief Information Officer

Indian IT major Wipro Limited has appointed Anup Purohit as Chief Information Officer, who was working as Yes Bank's CIO.

Indian IT major Wipro Limited has appointed Anup Purohit as Chief Information Officer. Earlier he was working as Yes Bank’s CIO and was in charge of spearheading business technology transformation and digital innovation strategy with a relentless focus on bringing future technology into the bank’s current technology stack.

In his new role, as Chief Information Officer, Anup will report to Sanjeev Singh, Chief Operations Officer.

Purohit brings with him over 25 years of experience across banking and financial services, centered around innovation in digital banking, financial management, business solutions and service delivery, portfolio-program management, risk and controls and information security. He has rich experience in leading a global and multi cultural environment with US, UK, Sub Sahara Africa, Middle East and India markets.

Prior to YES Bank, he worked with RBL Bank as Head – Information Technology responsible for building agile, robust, scalable and resilient technology platform and process to grow bank’s geographic presence and product ranges and to transform the bank as one of India’s Best Emerging Bank.

Purohit also had a stint with Barclays Bank and was responsible for the IT Infrastructure Solutions for Emerging Market (EM) comprising of 14 countries. He was accountable in delivering Emerging Markets Business Initiative on Schedule, within Budget and with Value Proposition.

Purohit also spent over decade with JPMorgan Chase Bank, where he was heading the Portfolio & Program Management (P&PM) India & Program Management Office (PMO) Asia. He was responsible for managing the business off shoring initiative from US, EMEA & Asia, Infrastructure Program for creating technologically enabled seating capacity, Business strategies of co-location. During his tenure in JPMorgan, as part of global outsourcing deal, he was employed by IBM for almost two years, responsible for entire IT Infrastructure Operation Service Delivery, Program Management, Business Continuity Planning and Risk Management.

Purohit holds Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering from Mumbai University. He holds various technical certifications in Microsoft, Cisco and IBM.
