Celebrating Earth Day: GoodEnough Energy Aims to Reduce 5 Million Tonnes of CO2 Emissions Every Year

As the world celebrates Earth Day 2024, GoodEnough Energy, India’s 1st and most advanced manufacturer of Battery Energy Storage Systems, announced its ambitious plan of reducing 5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions annually, addressing the alarming rise in environmental threats caused by carbon-intensive industries.

The concentration of carbon-intensive industries, coupled with the increasing reliance on diesel generators for backup power, has contributed to a surge in CO2 emissions, posing a severe threat to the environment and public health. In response, GoodEnough Energy has launched India’s largest Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) Gigafactory in Jammu & Kashmir. The initial capacity is 7GWh, scaling up to 20GWh by 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will play a pivotal role in promoting grid stability and facilitating the transition to clean energy solutions.

Mr. Akash Kaushik, Founder of GoodEnough Energy, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainability, stating, “The electricity industry is undergoing significant change, with a growing need for clean, reliable, and affordable power. Our BESS Gigafactory represents a crucial step towards achieving India’s Net-Zero goal and supporting industries with high CO2 emissions in their green initiatives.”

The significance of this initiative lies in its potential to mitigate the adverse effects of diesel generator usage, which produces an average of 3 kg of CO2 per litre of diesel consumed. For example, a backup operating generator of 125KV that runs for 2 hours a day, consuming 60 litres of diesel, emits 180 kg of CO2. One kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity produced by a diesel or coal-fired power plant also emits one kilogram of CO2. GoodEnough Energy’s Gigafactory, with an initial capacity of 7GWH annual storage, aims to reduce over 5 Million tonnes of CO2 in a year, with 2 cycles every day, equivalent to the Indian Railway’s annual carbon reduction target of 4 Million tonnes.

The Gigafactory will cater to various sectors, including moulding industries, automation, mining, hospitals, refineries, malls, and shopping complexes, providing advanced battery energy storage systems to reduce their carbon footprint. With an investment of over INR 450 Crores, GoodEnough Energy aims to create job opportunities for over 100 SMEs as vendors and suppliers, contributing to economic growth and development in the Jammu & Kashmir region.

Furthermore, in line with the growing demand for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, GoodEnough Energy is poised to address the escalating power demand for EV fast charging stations. Leveraging its BESS technologies, the company aims to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of EV charging facilities, meeting the increasing demand effectively.

With its commitment to environmental stewardship and innovative energy solutions, GoodEnough Energy leads the charge towards a greener and more sustainable future. Through initiatives like the BESS Gigafactory, the company aims to inspire positive change and empower industries to embrace cleaner and more efficient energy alternatives.
