The National Rail Museum Moves to Protect India’s Heritage Railway Lines by Trademarking Their Insignia in Partnership with Arctic Invent

On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, a new chapter was added to the story of the nation’s glorious past.

On India’s 77th Independence Day, 15th August 2023, the National Rail Museum took steps to protect India’s heritage railway lines. These trademarks were filed and represented by Arctic Invent on behalf of National Rail Museum. Arctic Invent has filed 25 trademarks for the museum, covering the names, logos, and insignia of the heritage railway lines, that symbolized pride, unity, and the nation’s socio-economic progress.

Railway lines such as Jai Jangaldhar Baadsha, Eastern Punjab Railway, Bombay Port Trust, and many more, are relics of a time when giants roared, and steel and steam united a diverse land.

Speaking on the occasion, Govind Kedia, Managing Director of Arctic Invent, said “We hope that our work with the National Rail Museum will inspire other businesses and organizations to take steps to protect India’s intellectual property. Intellectual property is the foundation of innovation, and it is essential for economic growth and prosperity.”

These emblems of India’s past will now find sanctuary from unauthorized commercial exploits and the like, their essence preserved for generations to come.

This Rail Museum took the inspiration of filing these 25 trademarks of the logos and names as our honourable Prime Minister emphasizes on Intellectual property and once said that “Intellectual property is the foundation of innovation. It is the key to economic growth and prosperity. India is committed to protecting intellectual property rights.” The sentiment echoed by the National Rail Museum with this filing.

Not only will these trademarks become a shield, protecting these timeless tracks, but will serve as beacons, illuminating to the public the importance of these heritage railway lines, educating them about their role in India’s history.
