How Artificial Intelligence Can Boost Creativity

AI

By Abhishek Agarwal

A technology that leaves a good impression of being as, and arguably even more, intelligent than humans is on a swift rise and spread worldwide.

Artificial Intelligence(AI) is an abstract bundle of techniques and procedures that is capable of making human users understand and believe the results generated by AI algorithms.

Today, the uses of AI include everything from chatbots responding to visitor queries to diseases getting diagnosed at hospitals. AI is increasing agricultural productivity, and it is providing security to human habitats via surveillance. Governments have been researching how AI can help them track down any terrorism-driven propaganda on social media sites. Additionally, AI is proving crucial to efforts to run robo vehicles that can perceive their immediate surroundings and environmental conditions.

However, among the many applications of AI, one continues to spark debate – creativity.

Human intellect is fundamentally characterized by creativity. It won’t be easy for artificial intelligence, will it?

Is Human Creativity No Longer Needed?

Creativity is a part of human intelligence, not a separate skill. It is manifested every minute, every day, in our conceptualization, judgment, logical linking, reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making. It is a reflection of our cultural environment and personality traits. It is an emotion, a motivation—not just some mental faculty.

This long-held proud notion has been defied by the arrival of artificial intelligence. In the Smart Computer Age, creative people don’t seem to be sought as they used to be.

Let’s explore how creativity may be the very next take-over target of artificial intelligence.

Businesses Undergoing a Huge Makeover through AI

  • Guest Relations

AI is proving a big plus in customer service because it can target certain customers and adjust to their individual needs. It is helping realize a more tailored experience for customers, thus intensifying brand loyalty and keeping the company thriving.

  • Recruitment

AI-powered solutions streamline time-wasting manual stages by automatically screening hundreds of CVs, thus augmenting the efficacy of the whole hiring process.

  • Healthcare

In India, there are only 64 doctors for every 100,000 inhabitants, compared to an average of 150 globally. In the country’s rural parts, even the main healthcare facilities, let alone sub- centers, frequently face appallingly low staffing levels and lack basic amenities (Weforum.org, 2022).

To assist in this scenario, AI is increasingly being factored into body-screening algorithms to timely detect diseases like fading vision, cardiovascular issues, and cancer.

  • National Defence

Countries around the world are progressively adopting drones, loitering weapons, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for spying and patrolling purposes. These tools are entirely AI-powered and assist in supplying real-time data for tactful decision-making in military operations.

The border management architecture will soon be improved by using sensors and radars to survey land borders.

  • Marketing

Marketers are now better familiar with the behaviour  of their clients; they know beforehand what the client will demand most possibly—thanks to AI.

In this way, they can timely and effectively tailor the appropriate plan to the appropriate audience.

  • Art

Humanity has been producing art to express itself ever since it became self-conscious. Stone carvings and paintings were found in caves first. With the modernization of civilizations came the art movements like Gothic, Renaissance, Romanticism, Realism, Symbolism, Pop Art, and Minimalism. It shouldn’t be wrong to consider the current year 2022 as the Early AI Art Era.

Recently, a few of the AI image generators that have gained enormous popularity include Dall-E, Stable Diffusion, Google Imagen, Nightcafe, and StarryAI, and the trend is showing no signs of slowing down. These tools are able to change the presentation of a film as well as add motion to static photos and fill in the space between two images.

To quote Markets and Markets’ 2022 analysis, the AI market will grow at a CAGR of 36.2 percent reaching a value of US$407 bn in 2027, up from US$86.9 bn in 2022.

This quick advancement of AI technology will provide creatives:

  • More time to concentrate on innovation.
  • Possibilities to innovatively mix technologies to produce new working styles.
  • The ability to accurately analyse data for making wiser creative choices.

Instead of worrying over the likelihood that artificial intelligence could eventually replace human creativity, we can instead combine it to improve our skill set and thus value both.
