Navigating Barriers and Celebrating Achievements: Women Leaders on International Women’s Day 2024

International Women’s Day holds profound significance as a global platform to celebrate the achievements, contributions, and resilience of women worldwide. It serves as a poignant reminder of the ongoing struggle for gender equality and the need to dismantle barriers that inhibit women’s progress. By honouring the accomplishments of women in various spheres of life, the day amplifies their voices, inspires future generations, and fosters solidarity in the pursuit of gender parity. It’s a time to recognise women’s indispensable role in shaping societies and economies, driving positive change, and reaffirming the commitment to building a more equitable and inclusive world.

As the world celebrates, it’s imperative to reflect on the state of gender diversity within various industries. Despite significant strides towards inclusivity, the corporate landscape continues to grapple with the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles.

Aparna Mahesh, Chief Marketing Officer at Great Learning, on the curious case of missing women leaders, elaborates on her journey as a woman leader helping brands become household names-

“From a nearly equal participation in the workforce at entry levels to a rapid drop-out starting around the 5-7 -yr mark, and a near absence as you get to the top – ‘the curious case of the missing women leaders’ makes for a fascinating, albeit slightly tragic, story. While there have been a lot of positive changes in the last several years towards building more diverse and sensitive workplaces, they have not solved for structural issues, mainly around expectations around a woman’s role in raising and caring for the family. From what I have seen, migration to a few large cities where the opportunities lie (take Bangalore as an example), has probably made the problem worse due to the total absence of traditional support systems like the extended family, and often the woman steps back to compensate for the same. It’s clear that corporations only solving for the woman is not helping – maybe it’s time to start solving for the ‘family unit’ that a woman is the central part of. Example – flexible policies for young parents rather than just mothers, may allow the partners to contribute more without  jeopardising their own careers.

Personally, I was very fortunate to have started my career at a time and in an industry(media and advertising) where there was no dearth of strong women leaders. Working with them… just being around them, had a huge impact on the professional I went on to become. I saw them juggle everything – long working hours, raising families, mentoring teams with a passion, and holding their own in an overwhelmingly male world.  Once you start your career around such inspiring role models, you expect a lot from yourself and that has given me the strength to plod on even during tough times. My biggest word of advice to young women professionals is to find your role models very early in your career – stay connected to them and keep looking to them for inspiration. You will find your way around and eventually to the top. It could take longer to get there than some of your male colleagues, but that hardly matters. Today, the world largely wants women to succeed – that’s a tectonic shift compared to a few decades ago. I hope that we are all able to make the most of this enabling environment and leave an indelible mark in the annals of time.”

Nina Nair, SVP and HRD Head, India & Americas, emphasises on the importance of pursuing equality in the workplace through persisting obstacles –

“On this Women’s Day, it’s imperative for employers in India to recognize the indispensable role of gender diversity in driving business success. Research consistently shows that diverse teams yield greater innovation and better decision-making, directly impacting the bottom line.

It’s time for a paradigm shift in how we approach diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace. Employers must commit wholeheartedly to fostering an environment where all employees, regardless of gender, feel valued and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives. This requires not just lip service, but concrete actions and investments in DEI initiatives. DEI is not just about gender diversity but also a diversity of thoughts, beliefs and actions.

As we celebrate women today, let’s move beyond mere rhetoric about equality and pivot towards the pursuit of equity. In order to usher in an era of inclusion and equality, it’s time for a collective call to action. Employers must prioritise creating environments where women are empowered to thrive. This involves implementing tangible steps such as unbiased hiring practices, performance management, development opportunities, mentorship programs, collaborative global projects and flexible work arrangements, by embracing diversity as a cornerstone of business excellence, we can unlock untapped potential, drive innovation, and secure a more prosperous future for all.”

Beyond just a day of recognition, let this women’s day serve as a catalyst for sustained action, where we strive to create a world where every woman is empowered to thrive, break barriers, and realize her full potential. Together, let us continue to advocate for inclusivity, amplify women’s voices, and forge a future where equality reigns supreme.

Oendrilla Vadithela, Co-founder of Vai ra “As a woman in business and creativity, I’ve learned that success isn’t just about climbing the corporate ladder but making a meaningful impact. Transitioning from digital marketing to jewelry design and social entrepreneurship wasn’t just a job change; it felt like following my true passion.

Through Vai Ra, I’ve combined my experiences, skills, and dreams to create jewelry that stands for empowerment and sustainability.

In a world where barriers for women are breaking down, I’m proud to show the limitless potential of female leaders. Every part of my role as a co-founder celebrates women’s strength and entrepreneurial drive.”

Mangala Seetharaman, Sr. Director, Software Development, Verizon India “In the ever-changing world of technology advancements, particularly in AI, it is now more seamless for the women workforce to find a better balance between work and family life. With the integration of AI, we now see a more enabling environment where women not only succeed in their careers but are also able to find the right balance to focus on personal time. One of the key areas where AI has impacted women is in automating and streamlining tasks. The repetitive and time-consuming tasks that are now handled by  AI-powered tools, and the advent of remote/hybrid work enabled by the latest technologies, women now are able to juggle their personal and professional commitments a lot more effectively.

The role of AI in enhancing virtual communication and project management has further facilitated collaboration among diverse teams, thereby affording women equal opportunities to assume leadership roles and engage in innovative and strategic practices. AI has also played a significant part in advancing diversity and inclusivity within the technology industry. With the cultivation and imbibement of an inclusive work environment, technology has opened up avenues for women to pursue and thrive in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.

In conclusion, the integration of Gen AI, Data Engineering, Salesforce and AI Operations in the technology era has ushered in a transformative era for women professionals and helping them flourish in their current roles and also aspire to break new grounds, contributing to a more inclusive and diverse future in the ever-evolving world of technology.”

Priya Subodh, Director for Women Skilling and Social Entrepreneurship- 1M1B Foundation (One Million for One Billion) “In India, where women contribute approximately 18% to the GDP (significantly lower than the global average), enhancing their participation in the workforce could boost the economy by over $700 billion by 2025. This is why skilling initiatives need to transcend traditional, gender-defined roles; and embrace technology as the great equalizer. By empowering women with technology skills, we open up a broad spectrum of opportunities, enabling them to participate fully in the new digital economy. This transition from mere empowerment to tangible enablement is crucial. It’s not just about equipping women to take care of themselves and their families; it’s about integrating them into the formal job market on a mass scale, and leveraging technology to bridge the gaps. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let’s commit to investing in women and inspiring inclusion, while recognizing that when women thrive, economies prosper.”

Rama Mahendru, Country General Manager- India, Intrepid Travel- World’s largest adventure tourism provider company “As we celebrate International Women’s Day,’ it is critical to acknowledge the invaluable contributions of women in shaping the tourism industry. Their leadership, creativity, and dedication have transformed the sector while also fostering an inclusive and diverse culture. Today, we celebrate their resilience and vision, recognising that true progress is achieved by embracing each individual’s unique perspectives and talents. Let us continue to advocate for gender equality, encourage women to excel in their roles, and foster an environment in which everyone, regardless of gender, feels valued and respected. Intrepid Travel not only advocates for women’s inclusion but also implements it to the fullest. This is evident from Intrepid Travel’s step towards enhancing gender diversity in tour leadership. We are working assiduously towards achieving balanced female tour leaders. Together, we can inspire inclusion and create a more equitable and prosperous future for the tourism industry and beyond. Our focus is on inclusion, thereby making Intrepid Travel the first to take this step of hiring female tour guides.”

Srividhya Deshpande, VP, Global Talent Management, Egen.ai “At Egen, we go beyond celebrating International Women’s Day; we translate words into impactful action. The theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion’ resonates deeply because we believe progress demands an environment where diverse voices collaborate to innovate.

Our commitment drives our investment in Diversity & Inclusion initiatives. We recently conducted a training program on ‘Unconscious Bias’, empowering employees to recognize and dismantle hidden biases. Recognizing the power of each individual’s empowerment, we also hosted a women-exclusive Self-Reflection and Awareness Workshop as we unlock a wider range of ideas and solutions, propelling us towards shared success.

This International Women’s Day let’s commit to action #InspireInclusion. Let us build workplaces where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their best. Together, we can create a more equitable and prosperous future where innovation thrives, powered by diverse perspectives and creating new possibilities for everyone.”

Michael Morris, CEO and Co-founder, Torc “Skills, Productivity, Teamwork: All gender agnostic traits of quality software developers. Code doesn’t care who’s working on it, or from where, so why should companies? Talent networks know there’s no place for gender bias when it comes to technology innovation. Platforms matching skilled developers with companies create an inclusive environment by focusing on skills and experience, not gender. The gender question as a prerequisite to recruit, hire, and retain staff is an antiquated, unnecessary practice for the digital workforce. Torc, a global talent network, doesn’t even ask it when people complete a Community member profile.

An emphasis on performance and results invites all to the technology table. To combat unconscious bias in hiring, best practices include enabling access for (and to) diverse talent pools, anonymized personas for privacy, and AI-powered intelligent matching to connect individuals based on skills, coding languages, productivity metrics, data, and work history. Valuing the quality of work of every developer, female and otherwise, encourages mentorship, networking, and continuous learning to create high-functioning, engaged, supportive communities.

By focusing on skills, facilitating greater access to jobs for remote workers and companies that need to hire them, promoting transparency, and cultivating inclusive communities, global talent networks play a significant role in reducing gender bias. This is particularly true in technology fields, like software development, where diversity is vital to successful digital transformations and culture growth.”

Kirti Kama, Senior Vice President-Technology, Mastercard “According to a NASSCOM report, the representation of women in the Indian tech workforce has doubled in the last few years. This has been made possible through numerous efforts by the government, NGOs and organizations working towards a common goal. The recent budget focused on investing in Nari Shakti (women empowerment) and this bears testimony to the nation’s commitment to achieve gender balance. In fact, girls and women constituted 43% of those who enrolled in STEM courses this year – one of the highest in the world.

As we celebrate International Women’s Day, let us pledge to ensure that we continue this momentum. For that, it is important to address the issues that still pose a challenge in achieving our diversity goals, especially in tech. As a woman techie myself, I can vouch for the importance of female role models in this industry and how this can assist the next generation of woman techies with vital insights, skills, and confidence required for career growth. It is imperative for organizations to create opportunities where women find the right inspiration and resources to grow. A good example is the Women Leadership Network at Mastercard, an employee driven resource group that, through various workshops, mentoring and networking initiatives, strives to equip women employees with the right skills and guidance to succeed. We’ve also had many case of women moving from non-tech to tech roles, aided by the right mentoring and upskilling. Such focused guidance not only helps women in early stages of their career but also those taking a leap for senior leadership roles.”

Swapna Balivada, Senior Delivery Director, Consulting Services, o9 Solutions Inc. “On International Women’s Day, the lone landmark that stands out is the indelible, far-reaching positive impact that women’s empowerment has brought about in the lives of not just women, but across genders, nations, blocs and groups. STEM did and continues to contribute to the mercurial growth of women’s empowerment, which once used to be limited to traditional sectors, sporadically.

This year’s theme ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ highlights the imperative of investing in women to accelerate progress towards gender equality and empowerment. As a woman in STEM, I’m proud to celebrate this great initiative and hopefully inspire more women to work in tech and science.

o9 is committed to creating an environment where women can thrive. We understand the undeniable potential and talent that women bring to the table. That is why o9 is a proud signatory of the CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion pledge and has organized multiple initiatives internally and externally to support women such as lean-in circles, women of o9, and initiatives to support school-aged young women in their aims to work in tech and excel in STEM education in partnership with Microsoft.”

Abinaya Deepika Chandrasekaran, Lead Customer Success Manager at Responsive (Formerly RFPIO) “Inspiring inclusion in the tech space is not just about diversity; it’s about creating a culture where every voice is valued, every perspective is embraced, and every individual has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to innovation.

In the tech industry, fostering a culture of inclusion goes beyond mere representation of numbers and focuses on creating a culture where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their unique perspectives and talents. Implementing inclusive hiring practices is crucial for building a diverse workforce. By prioritizing inclusion, tech companies can unlock the full potential of their workforce and drive greater innovation and success in the digital age.”

Rejitha Nair, Senior General Manager, Skillveri Training Solutions “At Skillveri, we have witnessed first hand how technology like simulators make learning environments and workplaces more inclusive. As the head of the team which developed our simulation software from scratch, it has been extremely fulfilling for me to watch it address challenges in conventional industrial sectors like welding and painting.

One key advantage of simulation technology is its ability to provide a safe and supportive space for women to explore and excel in fields that have historically been male-dominated. In industries where women are underrepresented, simulator based training allows women to gain hands-on experience without facing the same barriers they might encounter in real-world settings.

We’ve had the experience of observing women welders scoring high from the batch that started training on simulators, because the technology eliminated inherent biases in manual scoring. Women instructors at ITIs are enthusiastic, interested, and adapt to the technology very quickly. At Skillveri itself, we have had our women employees from both tech & non-tech backgrounds not just learning our product swiftly but also being able to demonstrate and even assemble it ! We strongly believe that women overcome their fears and progress with confidence when equipped with the right tools that empower them.”

Deepika Suresh, Chief of Staff at Xcode Life “In my role as Chief of Staff at Xcode Life, I am privileged to witness the remarkable strides women are making in science and healthcare. It’s heartening to see a substantial increase in the enrolment of women in science-based fields such as pharmacy and biology, reflecting a positive trend towards gender equality in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. For instance, in India, women account for about 43% of all STEM graduates, a testament to their growing presence in science and technology sectors. However, the journey doesn’t end here. Despite these advancements, women face significant underrepresentation in leadership roles within the healthcare sector. In the United States, for example, only about 21% of healthcare executives and board members are women, and merely one-third of doctors are female. This disparity extends to India, where women constitute merely 14% of the total scientists, engineers, and technologists in research and development institutions.

These statistics highlight a pressing need for empowerment and systemic change. True empowerment goes beyond education; it requires dismantling barriers to leadership and ensuring equitable opportunities for women. This is not just a matter of fairness but a strategic imperative. Diverse leadership in science and healthcare brings innovative perspectives that are crucial for tackling complex health challenges. As we aim to bridge these gaps, it is crucial to acknowledge the challenges women face, such as gender pay disparities and limited representation in higher academic and professional ranks. However, through concerted efforts, including policy reforms, targeted scholarships, and organisational cultures that promote gender diversity, we can pave the way for more women to excel in STEM and healthcare leadership roles.

Dr Sabine Kapasi, Co-Founder and MD at Enira Consulting Pvt Ltd., Well-known Gynecologist and an IVF specialist, says, “The intersection of mental health struggles and gender-based violence among women is not just a statistic on a chart; it’s the heartbeat of daily reality. The findings of the National Family Health Survey from 2019 to 2021 paint a stark picture: 30% of women in India bear the scars of gender-based violence, a burden that amplifies their risk of anxiety and depression. This International Women’s Day, let us recognize the profound impact of these experiences on women’s mental well-being. Let us commit to providing holistic care, breaking down barriers to access, and advocating for policies that address the root causes of this crisis. Together, let us heal not just bodies, but spirits, and empower women to reclaim their mental health and their lives.”

Ms Pritika Singh, CEO at Prayag Hospitals Group, says, “On International Women’s Day, let us celebrate the remarkable achievements of women everywhere. As the CEO of Prayag Hospitals, I am continuously inspired by the strength, resilience, and leadership of women in our organization and beyond. Today, let us reaffirm our commitment to empowering women, fostering diversity and inclusion, and creating opportunities for women to thrive in every aspect of life. Let us also encourage more women to pursue careers in the STEM field, where their unique perspectives and talents are greatly needed. Together, we can build a future where every woman has the opportunity to fulfill her potential and make a positive impact on the world.
Happy International Women’s Day.”

Mr. Arun Nayyar, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, NeoGrowth “Women entrepreneurs are now leaving a mark across diverse sectors in India with their remarkable contributions. At NeoGrowth, we deeply acknowledge their pivotal role in propelling our nation towards the ambitious goal of a USD 5 trillion economy. Recognizing the significance of timely funding and accessible capital in fuelling their growth trajectory, in 2023, NeoGrowth extended loans to over 2600 women entrepreneurs, amounting to approximately INR 430 Crores, marking a substantial uptick from the previous year. Committed to fostering a sustainable, inclusive, and purpose-driven ecosystem for MSMEs in India, NeoGrowth endeavours to bridge the credit accessibility gap and empower them in their entrepreneurial journey.”

Alka Kapur Principal of Modern Public School , Shalimar Bagh said, On this International Women’s Day, reflecting on my journey as the Principal of MPS, Shalimar Bagh, I find inspiration in the lessons learned over 34 years of my career. Determination and perseverance have been paramount, setting high standards while believing in the potential of every student. Fostering a positive and inclusive environment, where everyone feels valued, has been a significant focus – students, teachers, parents, and school committee members alike.
In my entrepreneurial journey, the transformation of our school into a centre for knowledge, innovation, and research stands as my proudest achievement. Creating a holistic curriculum that emphasizes academic excellence, sports, performing arts, and co-curricular activities has been immensely fulfilling. Witnessing the blossoming of students academically, emotionally, and socially, as well as empowering teachers, has been truly rewarding.
This Women’s Day, I advocate for recognizing and celebrating the achievements and contributions of women without diminishing the significance of men. True empowerment involves creating a society with equal opportunities, responsibilities, and respect for all genders. Let us break down gender stereotypes, supporting one another in both personal and professional aspects of our lives. Together, we can foster a society that values and uplifts everyone, irrespective of gender.

Riddhi Bhagat, Founder Binge on Baked, In my entrepreneurial journey in the food industry, I’ve learned that passion can be turned into a thriving business. BOB is not just about food and delicacies; it’s about creating a culinary experience that resonates with people. The journey has been a learning curve, teaching me the importance of perseverance and creativity in an ever-evolving industry.

One of the biggest achievements for me has been witnessing the positive impact BOB has had on people’s dining experiences. Building a community around my culinary vision and seeing individuals connect through a shared love for good food is truly fulfilling. Every satisfied customer is a testament to the dedication and hard work we’ve poured into this venture.

International Women’s Day holds special significance for me. It’s a day to celebrate the accomplishments of women in various fields, emphasizing the need for gender equality. It provides an opportunity for women to recognize their inherent value, often lost lustre under gender bias. As an entrepreneur, I encourage fellow women to pursue their passions and break barriers, contributing to a world where achievements are celebrated irrespective of gender.

Gunjan Malhotara, Director, Komaki Electric Bikes said, My decades-long journey as an environmentalist has been dedicated to finding sustainable solutions to make the country pollution-free. With this core vision, I got myself trained through practical learning and launched Komaki in 2016, in an endeavour to make Indian mobility cleaner and greener. With hard work, perseverance and unwavering focus, I gained deep insights into designing advanced electric vehicles leveraging best-in-the-market technological innovations and now happily possess a superb trend forecasting ability.
Through my journey as a self-reliant entrepreneur, I have been fortunate to gain rich experience in the quality and precision-oriented Bearing and Driveshaft industry, and got the opportunity to venture into the auto sector with the vision to make eco-friendly vehicles at affordable prices for all Indian markets.
What I feel is my greatest achievement in my entrepreneurial journey is giving my best in leading Komaki to expand its wings all over the country and making it one of the leading electric vehicle manufacturers in India.
Through my lens, International Women’s Day serves as a reminder of the progress made in breaking down barriers and overcoming gender-based obstacles in both domestic and professional purviews. It’s an opportunity to highlight the successes of female-led businesses, and showcase their innovation, resilience, and determination in navigating often male-dominated industries. It is also a time to acknowledge the ongoing struggles that many women entrepreneurs encounter, such as limited access to funding, gender bias, and societal expectations. Despite the advancements, there’s still work to be done to achieve true gender equality.

Dr. Rennie Joyy, Founder – Aalekh Foundation says Throughout my journey, I’ve learned never to underestimate my capabilities as a woman. I believe continuous learning and growth are essential, and I’ve witnessed firsthand how investing in community welfare can lead to significant societal upliftment.

Besides, the most significant achievement in my entrepreneurial journey is facilitating youth and women empowerment through skill development. It is immensely rewarding to know that I’ve played a role in equipping individuals with skills that can positively impact their lives and their families’ futures.

Women’s Day holds great significance for me as it symbolises the pursuit of an equitable society for all. It’s a time to celebrate the achievements of women, acknowledge the progress made towards gender equality, and reflect on the work that still needs to be done to ensure equal opportunities and rights for everyone. I believe that collaboration and support among women is crucial for driving positive change. We can collectively strive towards a more inclusive and just society by uplifting and empowering each other

Anita Kukreja, Head – Strategic Alliances & Brand, IceWarp India “As we celebrate International Women’s Day 2024, let’s embrace the power of unity and inclusion in shaping a world where every woman’s voice is heard, every dream is nurtured, and every opportunity is within reach. Together, let’s forge pathways of empowerment and resilience, breaking barriers and redefining norms. Let this day serve as a reminder of the remarkable strength and potential inherent in every woman. As Head of Strategic Alliances & Brand at IceWarp India, I am proud to stand alongside incredible women everywhere, driving progress and shaping a future where equality and opportunity flourish”

Archana Jahagirdhar, Managing Partner, Rukam Capital “It’s heartening to see more and more women taking up entrepreneurship and have seen many women achievers creating successful businesses and delivering excellent value to all stakeholders. The challenges in the startup ecosystem are immense for everyone irrespective of gender but have seen the contribution of women are unique and their capabilities are essential and provide an extra edge to the entire team across different functions. As India’s growth story continues to march forward, we do see a much greater contribution from women in Indian businesses and entrepreneurial spirit.“

Mr. Subburathinam P, Chief Strategy Officer, TeamLease Services Limited, “At TeamLease, we believe that diversity and inclusion are not only the right thing to do but also the smart thing to do. We are committed to creating a culture where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their best selves to work. We recognize women’s vital role in driving innovation, growth, and social impact across various sectors. That is why we are proud to support and celebrate women at work and to foster their inclusion and advancement in our organization and beyond.”

Serine Loh, Head of Culture & Talent, APAC, Qlik “As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we would like to emphasize the importance of recognizing and celebrating the diversity, achievements, and contributions of women from all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. It means ensuring that the voices and experiences of all women, including those from marginalized communities such as women of color, LGBTQ+ women, women with disabilities, and women from different socioeconomic backgrounds, are provided with spaces and opportunities for dialogue, empowerment, and advocacy that are inclusive of all women, regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability.

Qlik recognizes the unique struggles and experiences of marginalized women and are working towards creating a more equitable and inclusive environment where all women can thrive. We will continue to amplify the voices of women from diverse backgrounds, to collaborate with organizations that work specifically with marginalized women and communities, to provide resources and support for women facing intersecting forms of discrimination and oppression and other programs to embrace inclusivity to build a more just, equitable and inclusive society where women are valued, respected, and empowered to reach their full potential’

Hwa Choo Lim, VP, Human Resources, Asia Pacific, Equinix “This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the achievements of women who have overcome obstacles and shattered stereotypes. For years, Equinix has championed the empowerment of women through WomenConnect, which provides mentorship and support, ensuring every woman can excel within our organization.

Most recently, Equinix introduced “Equinix Hire Up Program”, an initiative incorporating Equinix hiring principles and a refined 6-step hiring process alongside comprehensive interview and talent selection skills training. This initiative underscores our dedication to fair and equitable hiring practices, attracting top talent to bolster Equinix’s transformation journey.

[Specifically in India, we launched the Women Returnee Program to assist women on career breaks in rejoining the workforce to resume their professional journey. Through this pilot program, participants receive training and mentorship to equip them for the industry re-entry, fostering skills and confidence essential for success.]

Our proactive efforts to address gender bias and inequality have led to a notable increase in gender representation in recent years. Establishing 9 Employee Engagement and Collaboration Networks (EECNs) and 35 WeAreEquinix teams demonstrates our commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive culture. These endeavors yielded tangible results, with a significant 13% year-over-year increase in our global female workforce as reported in our 2023 earnings.

At Equinix, we recognize that diverse perspectives drive continued innovation and advancement. We remain unwavering in our commitment to creating opportunities that empower women and contribute to a more balanced and thriving organization.”

Smriti Mathur, Vice President People India & Global Talent Advisory, Pega India “For this International Women’s Day themed ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ the tech industry reflects on the strides made in women’s inclusion at workplaces. Recognizing diverse perspectives, the tech industry today emphasizes leaders’ pivotal role in driving innovation, where gender diversity is not just moral but strategic for competitiveness and innovation.
“Today, technology has empowered us to dismantle physical barriers, paving the way for equity in the workspace. Yet, it is the cultivation of a culture of mindful inclusion and belonging that truly propels an organization towards its full potential and success.”
At Pega, Inclusion is a core value for our products and people. We prioritize building a culture of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belongingness where people thrive. This includes creating equal opportunities for our diverse workforce. Identifying role models and mentors that can enable you to upskill and grow. Creating safe spaces and employee resource groups that encourage you to share your learnings and experiences as you bring your authentic self to work. We also believe in recognizing our allies who champion and equip others in this journey.
As women leaders, we must serve as allies, inspiring other women to pursue leadership positions and fostering a work environment that recognizes, appreciates, and celebrates them.”

Nithya Cadambi, Senior Director, Finance, Operations and Facilities “Our journey has become an inspiring narrative of resilience and advancement as we continue to champion women’s equality and empowerment. A recent report by the Ministry of Statistics demonstrates an increase of 4.2%, pushing female labour participation to 37% in India. This growth reflects a positive shift in the country’s labour force dynamics, signifying a broader societal transformation. While every incremental gain fuels our progress and normalizes support for women, substantial work remains ahead.
The increase in female workforce participation requires a stronger focus and comprehensive approach from the private sector, government, and society. This year’s theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ stresses that investing in women has a ripple effect on society. Diverse perspectives, experiences, and ideas from women lead to more innovative solutions to complex problems. Companies prioritizing gender diversity consistently outshine their competitors, proving the business case for inclusion.
A multifaceted approach is imperative to foster investment in women. The competitive and demanding nature of jobs, especially in the tech sector, demands companies to focus on decisive actions to promote women’s engagement. Flexible work arrangements and mentorship programs assist women in navigating career obstacles and building confidence. As we navigate the era of ‘smart-everything,’ let’s also prioritize a smart equation for the future prosperity and well-being of our societies.”

Vidya Munirathnam, Vice President – Human Resources, Lowe’s India “Investing in women and cultivating their path toward accelerated career growth must transcend mere diversity agendas; it is a strategic imperative for progress. At Lowe’s India, we prioritize equity over equality as it’s not just about levelling the playing field; it’s about reshaping it entirely, creating a landscape where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.
We take deliberate action at all stages of a woman’s career lifecycle. By partnering with women-only institutes, we welcome a balanced pool of young talent – almost 60% of the campus hires joining us in 2023 were women. For our women associates and leaders, including high-potential associates, we offer a range of avenues to upskill, navigate and elevate their careers. In 2023, we increased our women officers (VPs) from 20% to 40%. With programs such as Bring-Her-Back and Do-It-Herself, we ensure we provide the right platform for successful maternity returns and career reintegration of those returning from career breaks, respectively. We focus on programs like “Elevate Your Influence,” and “Women Leadership Summit” aimed at connecting, inspiring and nurturing women leaders. Finally, by fortifying our foundational practices including workplace flexibility, strengthening our women Business Resource Group, sensitivity trainings, mentorship etc., we ensure women feel safe, heard and inspired to lead at our workplace. Today, a significant number of functions at Lowe’s India are led by women leaders- a culture that trickles from our global organization. These proactive efforts reflect in our improving gender ratio year-on-year and through multiple accolades as a great place to work for women.”

Natasha Rock, Geo Alliances Lead – GSI, EMEA GoTo “Breaking the glass ceiling is not just an individual triumph but a response to the structural disparities in career advancements, where women encounter barriers at entry levels. According to NASSCOM, despite women constituting 36% of India’s tech workforce, the proportion significantly declines higher up the corporate ladder. But it will take a lot more than women being part of STEM or companies adopting women empowerment programs. The ascent to leadership necessitates identifying mentors who can help navigate hierarchical barriers and consistent self-advocacy.
An NBER paper reveals that women tend to undervalue their performance, despite achieving similar scores as men. Therefore, being one’s own self-advocate is a pivotal challenge in this journey to the top. Leaders within the organization play a key role in facilitating this culture. When you consider the correlation between leaders who deliver better business success with high levels of emotional intelligence, it makes a great case for gender equality. Women inherently possess exceptional leadership skills—listening, mentoring, emotional intelligence, and creativity. For companies, success lies in recognizing and rewarding emotional intelligence, adopting transparent recruitment processes, and prioritizing competence over confidence.
In 2024, women find themselves in a much-improved position; gender diversity is now a recognized concept, and companies are increasingly open to implementing change. This Women’s Day, as we navigate a more evolved work environment, it is critical for us to inspire inclusion by demanding for inclusive practices, creating a robust ecosystem that genuinely empowers women.”

Monica Tomar, Regional Marketing Manager, South Asia Pacific, Axis Communications “As we commemorate International Women’s Day, we acknowledge the significant strides made by women in breaking the glass ceiling, particularly in the tech and surveillance industries. Studies consistently affirm that diverse teams lead to better decision-making, increased productivity, and enhanced creativity. Organizations can enable a more equitable society by advocating gender diversity and empowering women in the modern workforce, thereby unlocking the industry’s full potential to drive innovation and progress globally.
At Axis Communications, we cultivate a culture grounded in diversity, equity, and inclusion, celebrating the remarkable achievements of women who have defied norms and forged their paths in the industry. With a 40:60 ratio of women to men across South Asia Pacific, Axis Communications prioritizes diversity and inclusion, recognizing its critical role in fostering innovation and success. Through collaborations with esteemed partners like MINE and our steadfast support of initiatives such as Security LeadHER, we actively champion diversity within our workplace and beyond.
Today, let us reaffirm our commitment to creating a world where women are welcomed, valued, and empowered to thrive. Together, we can envision a future where gender equality is not an aspiration but a tangible reality. By providing women with the opportunity to break down barriers and reach their full potential in the workplace, we can help build a more prosperous and inclusive society.”

Twastree Chakravarty, Digital Business Leader – Marketing, Altimetrik “In the dynamic landscape of modern business, the significance of today lies in the seismic shifts propelled by women across diverse industries. As a woman leader navigating the currents of the industry, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of diversity and inclusion.
Women are actively seeking avenues that empower them to flourish in their professional pursuits. It is imperative for organizations to cultivate environments not only inclusive but also devoid of biases of any form. While equal opportunities are a crucial step, true inclusion requires a deeper understanding of ‘Intersectionality,’ acknowledging the unique circumstances of each individual. This means the implementation of comprehensive programs, mentorship initiatives and continuous learning and training. A reliable approach to achieving better gender ratios involves prioritizing women’s career progression across all levels.
At Altimetrik, we are at the forefront of this revolution, propelled by our conviction that diversity ignites innovation. Through initiatives such as WINGS, MentHerUp, and EmpowerHER, we extend tailored mentorship to nurture the professional and personal growth trajectory of women. Our commitment stands resolute as we stride forward, driving change and shaping an industry that thrives on inclusion and equality.”

Bharathy Venkataraman, Director, Delivery Excellence, Mindsprint “Accepting and valuing women’s involvement in professional domains, especially in the IT sector, goes beyond diversity. Today, we stand at a juncture where companies recognize the changing norms and are reflecting the same in their culture. However, to propel in the right direction, we must move beyond the ‘quantity of diversity’ in the boardroom and actively champion true inclusion, where ‘the quality of outcomes’ is the focus. Transparent hiring, robust upskilling programs, and mentorship are crucial. As we celebrate Women’s Day, let’s acknowledge the journey, address challenges, and create a future where inclusion isn’t just a buzzword but an inherent part of the tech ecosystem.”

Anuradha Bhamidi, GenAI Analyst, Movate “Throughout my decade-long career, my work experience predominantly revolves around design and research. Like all designers, user and technology research is a key task amidst the plethora of other responsibilities that designers handle. I joined Movate as a Senior Engineer and now serve as a specialist and GenAI analyst for solutions and presales.

While the concept of AI is not new, we have witnessed rapid development in the field, starting with the emergence of LLMs such as ChatGPT and AI art. One of my key roles in Movate’s Innovation Labs is to understand and analyze how we can incorporate these AI models to improve customer experience, amplify agents’ productivity, and analyze operations, performance metrics, and other KPIs related to various lines of business.

At Movate, my work revolves around implementing Gen AI in chatbots that provide support to customers and engineers alike, making the interaction conversational and human-like. This serves as the perfect deflection solution to reduce agent/engineer workload.

While Movate has already been leveraging AI/ML-based customer experience and agent amplification solutions, we quickly incorporated Gen AI in our solutions. I was in charge of analyzing the existing solutions, exploring the latest industry advancements, and developing relevant Gen AI-based use cases in telecom, banking, gaming, retail, and OEM sectors.

At Movate Innovation Labs, one of the first projects I worked on, which incorporated Gen AI-based chatbots, was for an industry-leading gaming company. Now, all our solutions incorporate AI in some capacity and we are working continuously to enhance the user experience.”

Jaya Mehrotra – Leadership Coach & Founder- Women Leadership Circle (WLC) “Today, as we celebrate Women’s Day, let’s spotlight the incredible strength of women collaborating with each other. While reaching the summit of top can often be isolating, women often face a dearth of comprehensive support. Hence, the significance of trust circles and intimate forums cannot be overstated; these spaces not only reinstill our resilience but also foster growth through shared vulnerabilities.

In this rapid age, women leaders must actively seek mentors to expand their perspectives and horizons. It’s time for us to embrace a culture of collaboration and co-creation, where every woman’s journey paves the way for many others to follow. I firmly believe women in power can enable more women in power!

Together, as women in power and leadership, we possess the ability to unlock boundless opportunities for generations to follow. Let us reaffirm our commitment to opening doors for plenty, as we champion a future where women knows no bounds.”

Ms. Radhika Kalia, Managing Director at RLG Systems India Private Limited “The campaign theme of International Women’s Day 2024 – Inspire Inclusion – is particularly touching. It reflects the urgent need for extensive changes across business and societal domains, and emphasizes dimensions that need to be addressed to take us closer to our aim of realizing a truly inclusive and empowered society. However, through a comprehensive and multi-faceted strategy and strong commitment to healthcare, economic upliftment, education, entrepreneurship, and digital literacy for women, we could forge a resilient, sustainable and innovative economy. I believe that utilizing the unique skills, creativity, and perspectives that women offer when included in the workforce could drive our endeavour towards a more inclusive and prosperous world.”

Ritu Mehta, Centre Director Phoenix Mall of Asia, VP Marketing South “In the retail industry, it is a matter of pride that more and more women have become influential both in terms of consumer perspective and business owners, bringing innovation and development in the sector. With digitization becoming an enabler to the rise of women leaders in the retail segment, innovative products and ideas are emerging in the consumer market – which is serving as a powerful reminder every day that inclusion is beyond diversity. Being a woman leader in the retail industry for almost two decades, I strongly feel that we all should come together to foster a culture of inclusivity that actively welcomes and empowers innovative ideas, empathizes with a diverse workforce, and creates spaces for everyone’s dignity and respect. This year, as we celebrate International Women’s Day with a focus on Inspire Inclusion, let’s aim to build a women-driven business landscape and pave the way for a vibrate and equitable future.”

Supriya Deverkonda, Senior Data Scientist, Great Learning “India is a beautiful country with a rich culture and has made significant progress, but it still clings to a few stringent norms, especially when it comes to women. Despite this, in 2013, I made the life-changing decision to adopt a 5-month-old baby, defying cultural stereotypes around traditional family and marriage.

Being a mother is a beautiful journey, especially when my child comes to me after a tiring office day and gives me a big hug and a smile. It’s the most amazing thing. The best thing about being a single parent is that it has taught me to stand up for what is not right, to stand up to society and have the courage to say no. Despite going against convention, I had strong support from my parents, enabling me to balance my career while raising my daughter. Juggling work-life balance as a single parent during crises was challenging but manageable with substantial support. However, after over 18 years in data science and analytics, a lingering feeling emerged that I needed to give my career a boost, particularly in AI, to stay current with industry trends. Believing that there’s no age limit for learning, I took the Post Graduate Program in Artificial Intelligence for Leaders by Great Learning this year. Encouraged by my mother to keep my career flourishing, I seized the opportunity to upgrade my skills and stay abreast of industry standards.

For mothers contemplating career relaunches, shifts, or boosts, my advice is simple: upskilling is key to empowering women and breaking barriers in male-dominated industries. Your journey may not always be easy, but with the right support and resources, you can achieve your career aspirations and create a better future for yourself and your family.”

Ms Anju Mary Kuruvilla, Director- Industry Affairs, Communication & Sustainability- Danfoss India “At Danfoss, as we continue to drive sustainable progress in a constantly changing and evolving world, it’s imperative for us to recognize the pivotal role women play in fostering innovation in STEM across all levels & functions in the organization and accelerating sustainable growth.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive workplace culture where female talents are nurtured and empowered to thrive and contribute their unique perspectives. Our initiatives like monthly work-from-home options, maternity leave & extended flexi-work options, provision of a daycare centre on campus, L&D and engagement programs for women, coaching, mentoring & anonymous counseling support, etc. underscore our commitment to supporting our multi-generational female colleagues.

By championing DEI and implementing supportive HR policies, we’re creating a positive environment where women can pursue rewarding careers with due work-life balance. By providing opportunities across the Danfoss globe for women to get mentored, or to do reverse mentoring and pursue job rotations, we aim to upskill/reskill women employees & increase the representation of women in employment by 50% within the next 5 years. Ensuring our RRRs (Recruitment, Retention & Representation) is right, will be the key foundation of our future growth ambitions.

Over the next five years, Danfoss will also have 50 percent more women in leadership positions. Today, women count for well over a third of all the company’s global employee population, but only 20 percent of our leaders are women. Therefore, Danfoss has launched a new ambitious plan to ensure 30% of women in leadership positions by 2025.”

Apoorva Aggarwal, office managing principal, ZS “This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the transformative influence and power that women’s leadership brings. Women leaders continue to shape the industry with their vision and strategy, paving the way for better business decisions and an equitable future. By increasing their representation at the helm, we send a resounding message: leadership has no gender. This inspires young girls and women to dream big, challenge stereotypes; and celebrate the rewards that come along. Moreover, diverse leadership brings unique perspectives to business, fosters empathy, and leads to more inclusive policies that benefit everyone. Let’s amplify voices, celebrate achievements, and empower women to lead toward a brighter, more inclusive future and create a thriving and resilient world.”

Anjana Sastri, Director – Marketing, Sterling Developers “The demand for residential real estate has grown exponentially over the last few years. However, the most noteworthy development is the remarkable rise in the number of women who are making a mark in the real estate sector with their visionary approach and strong business acumen. Real estate has undergone a sea of change in the country with changes in gender diversity, putting to rest the earlier norm of real estate being a male-dominated industry. From property consultants, channel partners and agents to engineers, architects and leader of multinational real estate development firms, women are leading the Indian realty sector to scale new heights. Dynamic and adaptable, the sector has exhibited a strong growth trend that has gained from women taking up more active roles. Hence the International Women’s Day theme, this year, “Invest in women: Accelerate progress”, is a vital key in women’s progress.

One of the primary merit’s women possess in the field of real estate lies in their inherent aptitude for collaboration and adept communication. Today, women are excelling across sectors and real estate is no different. Real estate companies have become alert to the skills women exhibit and hence are making changes in their policies and are enabling women in various ways to optimize their performance. Real estate companies through industry bodies like the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI) have made a significant push to encourage gender diversification and inclusivity within the sector. These bodies are playing a major role in getting companies to make gender sensitive a priority.

The entry of multinational companies into the Indian realty market is another reason for its increasing gender neutrality. As the participation of women increases in the real estate sector, they are actively advocating for gender parity, commemorating their achievements, and setting up platforms to rectify existing imbalances. The industry is seeing that gender diversity is not only about equality but also about advancement and success. The future of real estate contains enormous promise and opportunity, with women leading the way.”

Amulya Nagaraj, Executive Director, PEPPER Interactive Communications “The biggest challenge, we often hear, is that women tend to drop out of the workforce after a certain point. The challenge is most women are conditioned to focus on a ‘job’, and not a career. The mindset has to change to encourage women to pursue careers, not just a job that allows them to earn money. A career requires a certain amount of investment in self – upskilling, networking, setting goals for themselves and thinking strategically. There is a fair amount of conversation today about women entering the workforce, but for women to truly continue participating in the workforce, we’ve to change the mindset to encourage women to pursue careers, and not just jobs. And for this – we need a truly equal approach where both men and women share the load – physical and mental.”

Ms Yukti Gill- Co-Founder, Satyukt Analytics “As we commemorate International Women’s Day, let’s reflect on the diverse challenges confronting women entrepreneurs from various walks of life. From navigating gender biases to breaking cultural barriers, the entrepreneurial journey for women is multifaceted. In each industry and background, we encounter unique hurdles—be it accessing resources, overcoming societal expectations, or balancing family responsibilities. However, it’s precisely in confronting this array of challenges that we find strength, resilience, and a collective determination to pave the way for future generations. Empowering women entrepreneurs is not just about breaking glass ceilings; it’s about dismantling the walls that confine us in different spheres. By acknowledging and addressing these varied challenges, we foster an inclusive environment where every woman, regardless of her background, can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the entrepreneurial landscape.”

Dr. Somdutta Singh, Serial Entrepreneur, Founder & CEO, Assiduus Global Inc, LP Angel Investor, Ex-Member Niti Aayog on this year Women’s Day Theme Inspire Inclusion.

Inspire Inclusion”

When you hear such words, you think about a slogan that is meant to push for inclusion. It goes beyond that, however. Inspiring inclusion is not just a one-and-done deal. It’s about breaking systemic barriers and fostering a society where women feel included.

In a way, I feel like this theme transcends the very idea of why Women’s Day is celebrated in the first place. Inspiring inclusion is a continuous journey of challenging norms, raising awareness, and advocating for change, which has always been the goal of this day. Creating environments where women are not only present but also heard, respected, and given equal opportunities is a challenge that requires a collective effort from everyone.

It is also easy to just say these words. I speak from my heart when I say that the struggles that I’ve seen and that I have gone through myself are something I hope others don’t go through. True change requires action. From examining our own behaviors and biases, to speaking up against discrimination and actively working towards creating a more inclusive world, each of us has a role to play in this journey. The progress women have made over the years is a result of collective activism, something that hasn’t happened overnight or because of a single group of people.

As we celebrate Women’s Day this year, let’s not just acknowledge the progress we’ve made but also commit to continuing the work of inspiring inclusion every day. Together, we can inspire others and create a world where everyone is included, where everyone thrives. That is the true meaning of inspiring inclusion.

Ms Aditi Balbir, Cofounder, EcoRatings “The first challenge to address is the issue of gender inclusion, particularly in the corporate sector, where the current landscape remains disheartening. In India, women account for only 22% of the workforce, lagging behind China at 40% and the United States at 47%. Furthermore, women hold a mere 11% of leadership positions in India, in stark contrast to 21% in China and 30% in the United States.

The disparity is even more pronounced in the IT sector, where women face severe underrepresentation. In technology and finance, their presence in the workforce is limited to 15% and 25%, respectively.

Another critical concern is the glaring gender pay gap, especially in leadership roles and CXO positions, where women receive 50% less compensation than their male counterparts.

To address these challenges, a concerted effort is required to increase the representation of women in the corporate sector and ensure gender inclusivity. Some companies are taking bold steps in this direction, such as Accenture, which has set a mandate to achieve a 50% gender ratio by the end of the current year.

Additionally, policies like the requirement for one woman director on every board contribute to creating a more equitable environment. However, further comprehensive measures and initiatives are needed to bridge the gender gap and promote a more inclusive and diverse corporate culture. Companies should prioritize implementing strategies that not only increase the overall representation of women in the workforce but also actively promote their advancement to leadership positions.”

Meghna Agarwal, Cofounder, IndiQube “India’s economic landscape is experiencing a significant shift, with women entrepreneurs playing an increasingly pivotal role. While progress has been made, there’s still a significant journey towards true inclusivity.

With women contribution to GDP nearing 20%, it is becoming evident that women must play a key role to forge India towards a $5Tn economy. Recent developments including the Women Reservation Act that allocates 1/3rd of seats in Lok Sabha and State assemblies; pay parity for women cricketers, National Women Empowerment Mission & She Leads tech program from NASSCOM, are all reenforcing the prominent role that Woman must play in this decade.

However more needs to be done to inspire inclusion and bring an equal representation of women in the board rooms. Addressing societal norms remains a key aspect in inspiring inclusion. Woman centric initiatives must work to change deeply ingrained gender biases and patriarchal societal norms so that more women are open to explore challenging careers. Also, Policies and initiatives need to be sensitive to the intersection of gender with factors like caste, class, religion, and disability to ensure inclusivity

Together, let us strive to rewrite the narrative of women entrepreneurship in India by giving them equitable access to funding, mentoring, skill development and networking. Let us foster a future where inclusivity empowers women to reach their full potential and contribute to the nation’s progress.”

Uncover your unique strengths and passions, for your true authenticity radiates when you pursue what you genuinely love. Recognize that within each individual lies the potential to be a formidable driving force, and by empowering women across all societal domains, we contribute significantly to comprehensive progress. This Women’s Day, let’s not only applaud women’s accomplishments but also celebrate the rich diversity and dynamic contributions they bring to various facets of life. Cultivating a culture that esteems merit and welcomes the full spectrum of gender identities is the key to fostering a more inclusive, vibrant, and flourishing society. Together, let us pave the way for a future where every woman’s potential is realized, acknowledged, and celebrated.”

Mr. Saurabh – Cofounder at Stable Money “Women in India are not just participants but significant contributors to the evolving investment landscape, showcasing their financial prowess and commitment. As women increasingly engage in diverse investment avenues, there’s a clear shift towards empowering financial independence and stability. Our internal data underscores this trend, revealing women’s substantial presence, with a notable 32.48% contribution to the total Asset Under Management (AUM) and a higher Average Transaction Size (ATS) than men. However, challenges persist, including a gender gap in financial literacy and a tendency towards risk aversion.

To truly empower women economically, we must foster inclusive financial planning, providing tailored services and guidance to bridge these gaps. By unlocking the economic potential of women through education, support, and diversified strategies, we not only promote gender equality but also drive sustainable growth and prosperity for all.”

Women are shattering stereotypes and emerging as powerful, influential leaders, contributing significantly to the success of enterprises, job creation, and India’s economy. According to Women’s in India’s Startup Ecosystem Report, the women’s entrepreneurial landscape is on an upward trajectory in India. My advice to aspiring female leaders is to believe in your capabilities and grab the boundless opportunities ahead. Establish clear limits, assign tasks strategically, give importance to both personal and professional well-being, and make sure you have a robust support network around you. The perseverance, fearless spirit, and drive, coupled with empathy, leadership, and communication skills that women naturally possess, will surely enable young women leaders to continue breaking barriers and thrive in their endeavours, leaving a lasting mark in the field of technology and innovation.”

Neha Bagaria, Founder & CEO, Herkey “To aspiring young women, my advice is simple but very important in today’s time. Leverage networks and communities to reach out to employers who can provide job opportunities, experts who can provide mentorship and learning, and each other to find support & motivation.Speak up with confidence, champion your own growth, and face biases with determination. Building a supportive network is key. Surround yourself with mentors and peers who encourage you to reach your full potential. When faced with setbacks, embrace resilience. Reject thoughts of giving up or self-doubt and keep your eyes on your goals. Believe in the extraordinary capabilities you have. As women, we possess the strength to achieve whatever we set our minds to.”

Moreover, skilled women bring diverse perspectives and drive innovation, fostering creativity and pushing boundaries in technology and business. Economic empowerment follows suit as women secure higher-paying jobs and better economic opportunities, contributing to the prosperity of communities. Additionally, skilling programs cultivate adaptability and resilience, equipping women to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Madhushree Dutta, Head HR at Pure Storage India. “Investing in women and inspiring inclusion are the key themes for this International Women’s Day.

Investing in women benefits women and society as a whole. One of the key ways to do that is by increasing women’s meaningful participation in sectors where they are currently underrepresented including in STEM. At Pure Storage, we have implemented measures such as pay transparency, holistic benefits, equitable policies and practices to help achieve gender equality in the workplace. We have also increased gender representation across all levels over the past year, with specific efforts to drive equity in career growth and an increase in female representation in leadership positions.

Beyond focus on diversity, one of the fundamental ways to inspire inclusion is to ensure that women not only have a seat at the table, but that their voices and ideas are heard and leveraged. We are focused on building an inclusive culture where women thrive and reach their fullest potential serving as an inspiration to the rest of the society.”

Zscaler- Kavitha Mariappan, EVP of Customer Experience and Transformation “The representation of women in India’s IT sector is growing, but a significant talent gap still exists. This is the kind of environment that Cloudera has long established where individuals feel ready and supported as they progress upwards, and we did so by implementing two targeted initiatives.

Secondly, we have implemented a mentorship program to connect women executives with successful women leaders. Through coaching programs and networking sessions, it inspire and creates confidence for them to progress to the next role.

Most importantly, we found that being open and listening to what our employees need in order to take the step forward has been crucial. By collecting feedback, we draw insights on how we can support them better, taking a leaf from how we help our customers do better with data.”

Amadeus- Shalini Nair, Head – People and Culture, India and APAC, Amadeus “At Amadeus, diversity has been at the heart of our being, and over the decades we have embraced diversity in everything that we do. Building awareness and orienting leaders, managers and teams is essential to building a strong foundation around diversity, Hiring young women from campuses, supporting girls to study STEM in various parts of the world, including India and Manila, and encouraging young girls in Singapore to dream big, by partnering with Girls in Aviation; is our attempt to open up possibilities for young talent. Ensuring women are part of learning cohorts for technical and leadership programs helps us provide them with several career paths within the organization and mentoring HiPO women to develop them for senior roles is helping us build talent for the future.

In India, our UDAAN program welcomes experienced women professionals returning from career breaks, back into the workplace.”

Businesses contribute to this progress by breaking down barriers and fostering inclusive workplaces where every individual feels empowered and can be successful. At Keysight, initiatives like mentoring programs, access to best-in-class professional development, and community-centered employee network groups enable all employees, including women, to grow, advance, and thrive in their career. However, the journey doesn’t stop there – the work of DEI is ever-evolving.”

Pallavi Godbole, Americas Leader, Assurance, EY Global Delivery Services India LLP “At EY GDS, we encourage our women to build skyscrapers and not just break the glass ceilings. We recognize that diversity is the foundation of innovation and excellence, and we believe in the power of representation and have a specific commitment to advancing social equity by providing a level-playing field for women in the industry. Hence, we have implemented a host of initiatives to empower women throughout their careers.
Having a role model to look up to inspires the next generation to dream big. By providing such launchpads and fostering a culture of inclusivity, we’re not just breaking barriers; we’re building a better working world.”

Nishita Lalvani, Marketing Director, India & SG, Indeed “Women are playing a crucial role in driving business growth and shaping organizational culture. According to Indeed’s Promoting Women for Better Work report, Indian women are leading the global movement for pay equity. They are advocating for equal opportunities and spearheading diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. To create a work environment that is inclusive, boosts productivity and encourages innovation, companies must prioritize diversity and implement gender-specific policies such as flexible working hours, transparent pay practices, and formal regulations. By doing so, they can attract, retain, and support female talent while promoting gender equality.”

Mr. Antony Alex, Founder & CEO, Rainmaker “As we mark International Women’s Day, I’m proud to salute the remarkable women who drive innovation, progress, and change. Their passion and brilliance lights the way forward for us all. Let’s stand united in our commitment to equity, amplifying women’s voices, and creating a future where every woman’s potential knows no bounds.

Ivana Bartoletti, Chief Privacy andAI Governance Officer, Wipro “We cannot realize the full potential of AI if half of the world’s population does not have an equitable representation in its development. While girls perform as well as boys in science in most countries, only 22 per cent of AI workers globally are women.

This is hugely problematic, for three reasons:

  1. Because girls are being limited in their access to fast growing careers and direct participation in shaping AI systems,
  2. Because women are going to bear the brunt of the disruption caused by AI, and
  3. Because without access to shaping it, AI will continue to code existing stereotypes and inequalities into decisions and predictions.

Businesses must focus on nurturing role models and female leadership to ensure a more inclusive approach to AI. Second, they must embrace responsible AI and champion privacy, equality, and human rights in every piece of AI that is produced and deployed.”

Gaurica Chacko, Vice President andGlobal Life Sciences Head, Wipro “Reducing biases in AI algorithms can narrow healthcare inequality gaps, felt by underrepresented communities, by identifying diverse patterns and symptoms much faster. This inclusive approach improves diagnostic accuracy, allowing physicians to save precious time and potentially more lives. Additionally, injecting AI-powered solutions into clinical trial recruitment will increase accessibility for women and minority populations, ultimately resulting in better healthcare for all. ”

Laura Langdon, Chief Marketing Officer, Wipro “My advice to women to advance in their careers is to always do the job you want next rather than the one you have now. Do more than what is asked of you, never say no to an opportunity because that’s what makes you stand out. Be curious and ask questions, intellectual curiosity is everything, and Generative AI will help turn that into even more of a superpower. You no longer need to have a technical background to build something great, you just need to be able to ask interesting questions. I encourage you all to use Generative AI to make your work great and let it speak for itself.”

Aparna Iyer, Chief Financial Officer, Wipro “When female leaders advocate for more inclusivity into AI outputs, including women and minority populations, it creates an empowering and inclusive culture. Representation prevents biases from seeping into algorithms and safeguards the progress women have made and have yet to make.

Opportunities for women to succeed are abundant, but we must seize them. By taking on challenging roles, embracing visibility, and celebrating our achievements, we can break stereotypes and pave the way for more women leaders in finance. ”

Tejal Patil, General Counsel, Wipro “In life, both within and beyond the workplace, it is important to embrace authenticity. This will ignite a passion for your work and set you apart from the others. Take the time to understand your own goals and aspirations. By being self-aware, you can ensure that your strengths and actions align with your own personal definition of success. It’s also important to remember that what brought you success in the past may not be sufficient to reach new heights. Take calculated risks and ensure your skills and knowledge remain relevant and valuable.”

Subha Tatavarti, Chief Technology Officer, Wipro “We’ve announced the launch of the third edition of the #HerCode, an initiative by Wipro DEI and Lab45, which aims to empower women in tech by providing them with the necessary tools, resources, and opportunities to succeed in their careers. Through the #HerCode initiative, participants can access the Topcoder Academy Certification program, take structured courses in Data Science and Web Development, and engage with experienced women engineers, creating a supportive community for growth and networking.”

Rocio Herraiz, Global Head of Communications at Noventiq: “Tech companies are making strides in investing in their women workforce by enhancing female leadership, implementing D&I strategies, and offering programs tailored to the needs of women working in technology. But I think that the industry needs to go beyond that. At Noventiq, we see investing in our female workforce as essential to driving innovation and growth. Our approach extends from creating equal opportunities to embracing diverse perspectives and experiences. We aim to attract the best talent by emphasizing the importance of a diverse team that reflects a variety of backgrounds, cultures, nationalities, ages, and genders. Our approach involves looking at the whole person, not just their CV, focusing on their unique personality and how they fit into our organizational culture. In today’s world, it’s essential for all organizations, not just those in the tech industry, to support their employees with benefits that facilitate work-life balance, such as maternity leave -and paternity as well-, flexible hours, and remote or hybrid work options. At Noventiq, we offer these advantages, along with great career development and mentorship programs, leadership training, and platforms for sharing ideas that are designed to empower all employees, regardless of gender, fostering a more inclusive and diverse future in technology.”

Anu Matthew, Chief People Office, Perfios “At Perfios, diversity and inclusivity are core to our success and are nurtured through a plethora of initiatives for empowering women and driving innovation. In the context of an ever-evolving industry landscape, we constantly push the boundaries of social norms and break gender-based barriers to shape the future. Through our core values, we have championed diversity organization-wide by upholding principles that encourage Perfians to care deeply and achieve together. Our ongoing efforts, highlighted by our Diversity & Inclusion initiative, include our Women Accelerator Program, an 8-week initiative designed to support emerging women leaders through their ascent, with 10 seasoned leaders acting as success catalysts. This program focuses on honing industry-specific skills and addresses the distinctive challenges women encounter daily, emphasizing the importance of shared growth experiences within a supportive peer community.

To further provide supporting frameworks aimed at boosting women’s career growth, we’ve launched a 6-month-long Leadership Program for our next-gen women leaders. This program, designed and conducted by IIM Calcutta faculty, tailored specifically for Perfios leaders, will leave a lasting impact not only within our organization but also on our women workforce. Participants gain access to abundant resources, mentorship, and growth opportunities aimed at unlocking their full potential. As pioneers in our field, we also actively foster innovation through intrapreneurship programs like Ideathons, where employees from across the organization collaborate and ideate to work on their dream products and then get a chance to bring them to life. By nurturing a culture that energizes and inspires, we are not just building a company, but creating a legacy that will live on through the future. As we journey forward, we’ll continue to champion diversity and inclusion, shaping a workplace where every individual thrives, every talent flourishes, and every dream is within reach.”

Mr. Atul Vohra, Managing Partner, TRANSEARCH India “The demand for women professionals is seeing significant attention, and companies recognizing this trend are not only aligning with investor expectations but also experiencing positive outcomes. This trend is now a criterion used by investors to assess a company’s impact on the environment, society, and governance. In nearly 30% of our mandates spanning diverse sectors, there’s a distinct preference for women candidates over their male counterparts. The objective, we have observed, is no longer an HR discussion; rather is being driven by the boards. The leaders of today are making diversity a top priority, establishing it as a non-negotiable component of their corporate agenda, to create diverse, equitable, and balanced workspaces of tomorrow.”

Mihir Shah – SVP, Head of Operations, Swiggy

Through the sexual harassment redressal policy, we are taking a proactive step in building awareness and accountability among various stakeholders in the community. Yeshasvini Ramaswamy, Serial Entrepreneur & CEO of Great Place To Work®, India “Every International Women’s Day, I’m reminded of the incredible impact women have on our organizations and beyond. As a leader, I see firsthand the unique strengths and perspectives women bring to the table, driving innovation and a commitment to excellence.
While we’ve made significant progress in fostering diverse workplaces, there’s always room to do more. We need to actively listen beyond socio-economic barriers, address the needs of our female employees (across age brackets), and create an environment where they are genuinely empowered.
Investing in female leadership development needs, building inclusive cultures, and celebrating diverse voices are not just buzzwords but essential steps toward unlocking our collective promise. Organizations recognized for their efforts in building positive work environments for women see a demonstrably happier and more engaged workforce.
This year, I’m inspired by the increasing number of women leaders who are challenging status quo, nurturing a healthy sisterhood and working hard towards building a more equitable future by busting stereotypes. Their courage, tenacity and being strong role models is a much needed boost for future generations across all genders.
On this International Women’s Day, let’s recommit to the fundamental tenets of sustained change, respect for all, and providing equal opportunities for growth. By doing so, we create a more equitable and thriving future for all.”

Mr. Sumit Aneja, Founder, Speedways Electric, “As International Women’s Day approaches, Speedway Electric proudly stands as a champion of diversity and inclusion in the corporate realm. In pivotal departments such as accounts, sales, exports, research and development, production, and procurement, Speedway Electric proudly boasts a cadre of exemplary women leaders propelling the company’s success forward.”

Ms. Divya Bharti – Associate Director of Media Corridors “On this Women’s Day, let us celebrate the invaluable contributions of women in the PR industry and beyond. As a woman in PR, I stand tall, embodying the strength and resilience that define our collective journey. I believe in the power of self-belief and dedication to propel us forward, breaking barriers and shaping narratives along the way. Let us honor the stories of perseverance and triumph that resonate within each of us, acknowledging the challenges we’ve overcome and the limitless potential we possess. Together, we empower and inspire, paving the way for a future where women’s voices are heard, valued, and celebrated. Happy Women’s Day to all the phenomenal women who continue to redefine possibilities and leave an indelible mark on the world”

Pushkar Kumar, CHRO, Cairn Oil & Gas– “Building a truly diverse agenda needs serious commitment from top management. It takes conscious efforts at a larger strategic level to weave a diverse and inclusive culture. D&I agenda has to relate to business operating rhythm and not driven as a fancy HR imperative. Annual Business Planning sessions in each SBU at Cairn, are attended by the senior most leaders and they wrap up the annual and rolling D&I plans which are driven meticulously. Each plan is imbued by a sense of respect and deeper responsibility towards strengthening the diverse fabric of the organisation. Besides, a significant amount of focus has to be dedicated towards impacting mental models of leaders and managers. The focus must be on building organisational capabilities to grow and strengthen diverse talent, by helping them occupy critical leadership and business impacting senior roles.”

Ms. Madhumita Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Oben Electric
Women in the Auto Industry: Bridging the Gap for Innovation and Growth

The auto industry faces a critical challenge: a significant lack of female representation, particularly in leadership positions. This is not just an ethical concern; it also hinders the industry’s potential for innovation and growth. With less than 3% of CXO roles in India’s top 11 auto companies held by women and an 11% salary gap persisting, Deloitte highlights the need for change. However, positive signs are emerging. Educational outreach programs are inspiring young women to pursue careers in STEM fields, including automotive engineering, addressing the gender gap from the ground up. Additionally, many auto companies are embracing the strategic value of diversity. They recognize that gender-balanced teams foster innovation and creativity, leading to breakthroughs in product development and business strategies. Advocacy for safe and inclusive work environments is also gaining traction, ensuring equal opportunities and protection for all employees. Having said that, we ned to emphasizes the importance of merit: “Women need to be deserving of the positions they seek, bringing the necessary skills, experience, and value to the table on par with their peers. Selection should be based on qualifications and merit, not solely on gender.

Belinda Pervan, Vice President, APJ Marketing, Veeam “International Women’s Day (IWD) is the time for everyone, not just women, to be reminded of the importance of ongoing education, making space for conversations, and celebrating the positive impact of diverse teams. It’s also a great time to check-in with ourselves for unconscious biases and how we can personally impact our community. I’m a passionate believer in the power of mentoring. Inspiration and confidence comes from meeting others who have been through relatable situations and learning from how they overcame challenges. For this very reason, I co-lead Mentor Walks in Singapore, providing women with bi-monthly walking mentoring sessions around the beautiful Marina Bay Sands I’m also part of a women’s networking group, LeanIn Circle, aimed at supporting women in their career ambitions and leadership challenges. These women come from diverse backgrounds, but all share similar challenges and vulnerabilities. The support I’ve seen and received in these groups has shown me the value of community and network, and that everyone needs support at different times. I’ve seen some incredible examples of inspiring inclusivity within these communities, for example mentees inviting and encouraging each other to network and embrace new opportunities.”

Ms Meena Sinha, Vice President & Head – Human Resources And Communications, RR Donnelley, APAC “I often get asked what’s the most important thing women should do for their careers. It’s not a straight-forward answer, because each person’s situation or career aspiration is different. Our primary goal at RRD is to help every employee maximize their full potential in the shortest possible time, by providing them with every impetus they need.

While I’ve had the privilege of working with many extraordinary people of all genders, I can’t emphasize this enough: no matter what the debate around women’s careers are, the necessity for professional excellence, and consciously building a high level of competence, remain crucial for their success. Women in careers must embrace continuous learning, and upskill themselves periodically to stay at par with industry requirements. In RRD, we have specific interventions and programs, and structured mentoring sessions for all genders, and Diversity & Inclusion are an intrinsic part of our policies besides the strong focus on propagating work-life balance, mental health, and personal growth.

According to the International Labour Organisation, as of January 2024, women’s share in management in the workforce, has increased from 24.8% in 2000 to 27.5% in 2022. It takes a village, as they say, to make this participation a success at a global level for everyone involved, and there is much work still left to be done. We are constantly striving to develop the right people-culture and instil a growth mindset for women employees, and hope we can also contribute to the efforts of millions of dedicated people worldwide – change-makers, business leaders, industry heads and governments – that are working tirelessly to grow more women in leadership roles.”

Pratiti Bhaumik, Senior Vice President – HR Corporate, Virtusa “Empathy, inclusion and collaboration are the essential traits of impactful leadership. They foster a culture of equal opportunities and respect, regardless of gender, race age etc. At Virtusa, we believe in nurturing the growth mindset of our employees and actively ensuring that every voice is heard, every idea is valued, and every woman can thrive. As a woman leader, I strongly feel that growth is not just about career and comp progression, it is largely about having a free hand to create an impactful environment for the younger workforce – and that is how we pave the way for future generations of women leaders. This year, as we celebrate International Women’s Day with a focus on Inspire Inclusion, women leaders must unite. They inspire others through their work, break barriers, challenge stereotypes, innovate and pave the way for diversity to be celebrated as our key to success.”

Anushree Jain, Co-founder, SocialTAG “In the ever-evolving world of content creation, women are at the forefront, pushing the boundaries and setting new trends in influencer marketing. As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s important to acknowledge the role these leaders play. They’re not just making waves by producing engaging content; they’re also building communities that value inclusivity and connection, fostering an environment where everyone is encouraged to participate and succeed.

Beyond the realm of social media and content creation, women’s leadership spans across various industries, driving innovation and progress. Their presence in leadership roles significantly enhances company performance, highlighting the critical role diverse perspectives play in achieving success. Today, we salute the achievements of women leaders who not only contribute to the influencer marketing world but also shape our collective future with their determination, expertise, and commitment to inclusivity. Their efforts ensure that the path forward is more accessible and equitable for everyone.”

Rupa Bohra, Managing Director, TNS India Foundation “Today, as we celebrate the contributions and achievements of women, I’m deeply moved to see how women are increasingly getting represented across various industries, a cause that I am personally passionate about. At TNS India Foundation, we focus on putting women beneficiaries at the forefront of all our programs, be it youth employability, entrepreneurship or agriculture as we believe that inclusivity is everyone’s responsibility – be it employers, the community, at home or of the women themselves.

However, to me, true inclusion only happens when we embrace the rich diversity that all genders bring, yet acknowledge the differences in ability, faith, body and identity. It’s a collective effort, a global commitment to ensuring that women have a meaningful presence in every field and they are enabled to put their best foot forward on their journey to achieve economic and social resilience. Let’s champion inclusivity together, break down barriers, and create spaces where every woman’s potential is not just recognized but is celebrated, so that more women are encouraged to break the proverbial glass ceiling.”

Dr Reema Nadig: Co-Founder and COO, KITES Senior Care “In the relentless hustle of life, balancing the demands of work and family poses immense challenges, particularly in the noble field of healthcare. Yet, amidst it all, these extraordinary women shine brightly, their unwavering commitment and tireless dedication serving as beacons of hope and inspiration.

Women consistently demonstrate their capacity for excellence across diverse fields and industries. Given the opportunity, they thrive when provided with a supportive and nurturing environment, enabling them to achieve notable success. This Women’s Day, let’s not only express gratitude but also pledge unyielding support to these exceptional leaders and would be leaders. Let’s create spaces of inclusivity across all the spheres, where every woman’s voice is heard, valued, and respected.”

Chaitali Pishay Roy, Founder – CPR Global “The journey of women entrepreneurs is riddled with diverse challenges, ranging from societal biases, limited access to resources to the struggle of maintaining work-life balance and thriving in male-dominated industries. Yet, amidst these hurdles, women bring to the table a unique set of strengths – adaptability, empathy, and collaborative spirit. Women have always inherently shied away from putting themselves out there and being recognised for their achievements.

As a woman entrepreneur myself, I resonate deeply with these issues. That’s why I founded CPR Global, a reputation management consultancy helping leaders build their personal brand. We strive to amplify the stories of women entrepreneurs breaking stereotypes and showcasing their remarkable contributions in traditionally male-dominated sectors such as geriatric care, alco-bev companies, and D2C brands. Witnessing women shatter glass ceilings and empower others through job creation fills me with immense pride. Their resilience and determination not only inspire but also drive innovation and diversity in the entrepreneurial landscape.

It’s time we stopped considering ourselves to be the weaker gender or fairer sex.”

Sarada Vempati, Head of Enterprise Functions, Technology, Wells Fargo India & Philippines “Today, women stand as pioneers, reshaping every facet of the industry. For companies to thrive, there is a need to actively foster inclusion. Their increased participation across academia, workforce and leadership is a catalyst for economic growth. Yet, challenges persist, necessitating sustained efforts towards gender parity through inclusive policies and programs.

Inclusive cultures not only attract the best talent but also cultivate diverse viewpoints, which are essential for addressing complex challenges and seizing new opportunities in today’s rapidly evolving world. At Wells Fargo, diversity, equity, and inclusion are ingrained values, driving our global strategy to elevate women across all levels. One of our key tenets is to advance women’s representation across the employee lifecycle with initiatives that go beyond policies. One such initiative, the Table for 10 program, has impacted over 100 mid to senior women leaders across the organization in the last 2 years.

When we inspire others to understand and value gender inclusion, as women leaders, we forge a better world by embodying possibilities, belonging and empowerment. To drive lasting change, organizations must keep evolving their gender-agnostic policies, mitigate unconscious biases, and ensure accountability, paving the way for innovation that benefits all.”

Suvarna Nikam, Global HR Head, Visionet “On this International Women’s Day under the resonating theme of #InspireInclusion, it’s paramount to acknowledge the remarkable strides women have made worldwide and underscore the importance of “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”. Women are not merely participants; they are catalysts for change and innovation, and inclusion is at the core of this. Inclusion strengthens voices and opportunities, fostering an environment where equality, belongingness and diversity thrives.
At Visionet, we stand at the forefront of this transformative journey with our WOV -Women of Visionet – community which embodies our unwavering commitment to empower and uplift our female workforce. This platform is equipped with exciting learning programs, community engagement and a global mentorship network that enables them to navigate the unique complexities and thrive.
As the Global HR Head of Visionet, I am privileged be part of this revolution and witness firsthand how the entire organization and male allies have come together to foster a culture where women are groomed as leaders of tomorrow, learning continuously, effectively integrating their work and life, driving progress, and shaping the future of work.”

Gargee Patankar, V.P Sales and Strategic Partnerships, PatSeer Technologies Pvt Ltd. “On this International Women’s Day, let’s reflect on the theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress.’ As a woman in the IT sector, I believe achieving gender equality and promoting women in leadership roles requires a multi-faceted approach. It’s about striking a balance between professional excellence and mental peace, learning to let go of minor issues, and fostering transparency about mental health challenges. Women should embrace a positive and relaxed leadership style, akin to their male counterparts. Additionally, staying abreast of technological advancements is crucial for effective leadership. By investing in women, not just in terms of opportunities but also in mental well-being and technological skills, we can accelerate progress and create a more inclusive and innovative IT sector. Let’s empower women to lead with confidence, contribute significantly, and shape the future of our industry.”

Kanthi Aneesh, General Manager, Evolve Back, Evolve Back, Kuruba Safari Lodge, Kabini “Inspired by this year’s theme, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,’ Evolve Back reaffirms its dedication to empowering women in the hospitality industry. Our commitment stems from the belief that by nurturing and uplifting the talents of women within our organisation, we not only expedite progress within our own sphere but also extend positive ripples to the communities we serve.
At Evolve Back, we are privileged to have women who are intimately connected to the very locales where our resorts thrive. As we commemorate International Women’s Day, let us unite in our efforts to cultivate an inclusive and equitable future.
We envision a landscape where every woman in hospitality is empowered to flourish and contribute significantly to our industry. Recognising that investing in women is not just a moral imperative but a strategic imperative for the advancement of our collective journey towards excellence and sustainability in hospitality.
Together, let us champion the cause of women’s empowerment and accelerate progress for a brighter, more inclusive tomorrow.”

Dr. Sasha Lake, Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Anatomy,St. George’s University School of Medicine, Grenada “International Women’s Day, observed on March 8th, commemorates the exceptional contributions of women and honours their remarkable achievements. The history of humanity shows that women have been traditionally relegated to subordinate roles in society, including within the medical profession. However, time has changed, and more women are entering medicine.
For women in healthcare, having access to supportive mentors and sponsors can be instrumental in overcoming barriers and achieving their professional goals. Both mentors and sponsors play critical roles in fostering the professional growth and success of individuals, especially in healthcare fields where it can be competitive. By providing both career and psychosocial support, mentors help you as their mentee develop the skills, confidence, and resilience needed to advance in their careers. Meanwhile, sponsors can significantly impact your career trajectory by actively advocating for you and opening doors to new opportunities.
Embarking on the journey to become a doctor is both challenging and gratifying, especially for women considering entering the field. Trust in your passion for medicine and your commitment to making a difference in the lives of others. It will be important for you to have a game plan with goals that you will need to achieve to allow you to get into medical school. Do not be afraid to challenge yourself to develop leadership skills. Take on leadership roles in school clubs, community organizations, or research projects. Developing leadership skills will serve you well as a future healthcare professional. Seek out opportunities to gain exposure to the medical field through volunteering, internships, or shadowing experiences. This will give you valuable insights into the day-to-day life of a doctor and help you confirm your passion for medicine.
While you are keeping yourself busy, remember to develop healthy habits and routines, and work-life balance. It is important to recognize the importance of maintaining a work-life balance throughout your academic journey and professional career, therefore take time to develop healthy habits, mindsets, and routines. Remember that a balanced lifestyle contributes not only to your well-being but also enhances your effectiveness as a future compassionate and dedicated healthcare professional.
Best of luck on your inspiring journey toward becoming a doctor, and happy International Women’s Day!”

Divya URS, Head of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Action at lululemon who talks about her approach to build an inclusive space for women. “I am Divya Swareeta URS and I lead all our IDEA work in India where IDEA stands for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Action. I have been here at lululemon for 1.5 years and my time here has been one of immense learning and finding a deep sense of belonging. What truly sets us apart is our culture which is always applied through the lens of inclusion and equity. I feel more empowered with how I choose to design my day and prioritize my physical and mental health with the host of benefits that we have here. Leading IDEA in a fast-paced tech environment is wonderfully challenging and I am blessed to be supported by incredible leaders and colleagues who own and amplify our mission.

I have been working in the tech industry for more than 5 years now and I’ve had the privilege of managing projects that have fostered my growth. In my experience, what separates tech is the ability to move fast and move at scale. I have also done a lot of research on women in STEM and while a lot of work still needs to be done to bridge the gap in the industry, it has been gratifying to see companies come together to drive collective effort. I’m hopeful that in this way, the rising tide will lift all boats and fix the leaky pipeline that causes us to lose female tech talent every year.”

Ms. Aparna Acharekar, Co-founder, coto “An important strategy for ensuring India’s long-term economic success is the empowerment of women. The startup ecosystem is witnessing a rise in women’s entrepreneurship, opening doors for more women in leadership roles. As compared to male-driven startups, women-led businesses are more profitable, supported by high performance levels, and promote diversity. With the right guidance and encouragement, aspiring female leaders can receive significant help in becoming successful entrepreneurs in the future. At coto, our initiatives such as digitally delivered services by women aim to encourage financial inclusion and independence alongside boosting women entrepreneurship in a digitally safe environment.”

Alka Malik, Vice President of Engineering for App & API Protection at Akamai “It is crucial to establish an inclusive workplace wherein every employee is at ease asking a question, regardless of its perceived complexity or simplicity. Creating such an environment adds value to individual input, without emphasizing one viewpoint over another; it encourages self-expression without fear of judgment and helps create a space in which every voice is heard and respected and every team member feels valued and appreciated. Encouraging and fostering an environment with more openness and transparency in communication within the team and across cross-functional teams has been well-received”

Commvault “Our journey has become an inspiring narrative of resilience and advancement as we continue to champion women’s equality and empowerment.

Jagriti Kumar, Chief Financial Officer, NLB Services “The trajectory of India’s economic growth hinges significantly on the active participation of women in the workforce. With the potential to achieve an 8% GDP growth rate by 2030, ensuring women account for over half of the new workforce is imperative. This underscores the critical need for structured efforts to empower and integrate more women into the workforce, across various sectors. In the realm of Information Technology (IT), the past decade has witnessed a remarkable surge in the number of women employees, with over 20 lakh currently employed, constituting 36% of the total workforce. This growth can be attributed to factors like forward-thinking policies, expanded access to computer science education, and increased representation of women in leadership roles. Additionally, the shift towards remote work, accelerated by the pandemic, has enabled greater inclusion by bringing opportunities closer to skilled women residing in tier-2 and tier-3 cities.

While STEM education holds immense promise for girls, the reality reflects a stark gender gap, with women accounting for only 29.2% of all STEM workers. Addressing this gap necessitates multifaceted approaches, including mentorship initiatives connecting aspiring female students with seasoned STEM professionals, offering guidance and insights. Moreover, fostering a workplace culture that embraces diversity and inclusivity is paramount for attracting and retaining female talent in STEM domains. In the domain of finance, the picture is similar, if not more pronounced, with women representing a mere 21% in payroll roles and less than 16% in key management positions. In essence, bridging the gender gap across technology, STEM, and finance isn’t just a matter of equity- it’s a strategic imperative for driving innovation, fostering economic growth, and building a more inclusive society.”

Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director of Software Engineering, Fujitsu Research of India Pvt Limited “In the dynamic realm of technology, women like us stand as catalysts for innovation and progress. As we commemorate International Women’s Day, it’s essential to acknowledge the glaring underrepresentation of women in the tech sector, despite our undeniable potential. With just 24% of the AI workforce being female globally, the urgency to claim our space in technology has never been more evident.

In my journey spanning 24 years across Industry, Academia, and Research, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of resilience and determination. As Director of Software Engineering at Fujitsu Research of India Pvt Limited, specializing in AI-enabled system design, I’ve led teams pioneering advancements in high-performance computing, machine learning, and deep learning.

Today, as we celebrate, let’s recognize that the scarcity of women in technology is not a barrier but an opportunity for us to make our mark fearlessly. By embracing continuous learning, strategic networking, and mentorship, we can ascend the tech career ladder and inspire future generations of leaders.

My personal journey underscores the importance of pushing boundaries and venturing into uncharted territory. From humble beginnings in a small village to becoming one of India’s leading women scientists, I’ve learned that true growth lies beyond the confines of comfort.

My advice to women echoes this sentiment: never settle, never retreat into a cozy shell. Instead, embrace fearlessness, learn to travel alone, and liberate your daughters from restrictive norms. Let us empower each other to defy expectations, break barriers, and shape a future where women thrive in technology.

Together, let’s invest in women, accelerate progress, and pave the path for a more equitable and innovative tomorrow.”

Arati Ranade, VP & Head of Customer Engagement, Fujitsu “As we approach International Women’s Day, it serves as a poignant reminder of the strides we’ve made towards gender equality and the work that remains. This day is not just about celebrating achievements but also about acknowledging the ongoing journey towards inclusivity and diversity. Let us use this opportunity to amplify the voices of women, celebrate their contributions, and continue our collective efforts to create a more equitable future for all.

Additionally, I believe networking can help women in many ways in fostering growth, support and build a sense of belonging within a community that has shared goals and objectives. Often, women don’t give enough priority to networking as they juggle home and work.

Change is inevitable; we must learn to embrace it wholeheartedly. Moving cities, changing jobs – these are opportunities for growth, not obstacles. We must open doors for ourselves and learn to stand in the spotlight, unapologetically. In our career journeys, exposure to diverse cultures and perspectives is invaluable. It broadens our horizons and makes us global citizens, breaking the barriers of our cocoons. As women, let’s break free from self-imposed boundaries and redefine what is expected of us. This Women’s Day, let’s celebrate our strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit.”

Tabir Rakhshinda Hussein -Head of Internal Operations – Leegality “I believe India as a country has immense potential, and at the heart of this potential lies the incredible contribution of women. Women in India are leading the charge with their innovative ventures, contributing significantly to the nation’s economic growth and societal development.

In every sphere of life, women play a multifaceted role, balancing work and home with grace and determination. At Leegality, we recognise the potential women hold and we strive to provide them with a nurturing environment to grow and succeed. We empower women by offering flexible work policies, including remote work opportunities, to prioritize work-life balance. Additionally, our liberal leave policy and holiday flexibility create a supportive and inclusive workplace environment.

On the occasion of International’s women’s Day, I would like us all to come together to provide an inclusive environment for all women for them to grow and prosper in every field. Here’s to celebrating and uplifting women across all spaces. Happy Women’s Day!”

Ms. Smitha Hemmigae, Head of Employer Brand at ANSR “At ANSR, diversity and inclusion aren’t delegated – they’re woven into the fabric of our leadership. It’s a CEO priority, an HR cornerstone, a business metric we track and a responsibility shared by all. True progress isn’t a one-person show; it’s a collective commitment to building a stronger, more innovative future.”

The Global Capability Center (GCC) sector has recognized the power of diverse perspectives in driving innovation and success, they have embraced gender diversity as a strategic priority, demonstrating commitment and intention. They understand that global teams brimming with varied backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives hold the key to navigating today’s complex landscape and unlocking unprecedented innovation potential.

This dedication is reflected in their rapidly increasing diversity ratios, often exceeding 35% within the first year of operation. A Pan-India WIT survey by Talent500 of women reveal, that in Bangalore and other major cities with 6-10 years of experience reveals an overwhelming acknowledgement of GCCs’ genuine commitment to gender diversity. They foster a culture of collaboration and open communication, empowering all employees to thrive and contribute meaningfully.

Ms. Akshali Shah, executive director, Parag Milk foods “As we celebrate Women’s Day this year, it’s imperative to reflect on the remarkable journeys of female entrepreneurs, their challenges, and their triumphs. Behind every success story lies a narrative of resilience, determination, and inclusivity.

In the world of entrepreneurship, challenges are inevitable companions on the path to success. From breaking societal norms to overcoming gender biases, female entrepreneurs encounter numerous obstacles. However, it’s these very challenges that fuel their determination and drive for change.

I’ve had my share of challenges as a female entrepreneur navigating the dairy industry. From a male-dominated boardroom to overcoming preconceived notions, every hurdle has been an opportunity to inspire inclusion. I’ve learned that true empowerment lies in embracing diversity, celebrating differences, and fostering an environment where every voice is heard.

Inclusion isn’t just a buzzword—it’s a fundamental value that shapes our journey as entrepreneurs. It’s about creating spaces where women from diverse backgrounds can thrive, where their ideas are valued, and their contributions acknowledged. It’s about recognizing that diversity is our strength and inclusion is our responsibility.

Through inclusion, we unlock creativity, innovation, and untapped potential. It’s about building a community where women uplift each other, where mentorship flourishes, and where success is collective.

As we celebrate Women’s Day, let’s honor the triumphs of female entrepreneurs, celebrate their resilience, and commit to fostering a culture of inclusion. Together, let’s inspire the next generation of leaders to embrace challenges, celebrate diversity, and champion inclusivity.

In every challenge lies an opportunity, and in every triumph, a story of inclusion waiting to be told.”

Anjali Sharma, Director, Global Head of L&D, Fulcrum Digital “The ascent of women in tech in India is both a triumph and a call to action. Despite the challenges within the traditionally male-dominated realm, we have witnessed a remarkable shift as women rise through the ranks, particularly in cutting-edge fields like deep tech. In recognition of the importance of diverse perspectives in technology development, women have proven to bring unique value for equity in tech, ethical innovation, and inclusivity

However, a significant gender gap still exists: in India today, 43% of STEM course enrolees are female, which is one of the highest in the world; however, only 14% of tech leadership roles in the country are held by women. This inconsistency exists due to barriers such as societal norms and biases that keep women from progressing in the tech industry.

When advocating for an increased representation of women in tech, learning and development (L&D) becomes essential. Investing in education, mentorship, and leadership initiatives empowers women to break barriers.

The journey towards gender equality in tech is a shared responsibility, with collaboration needed from individuals, organizations, and policymakers. Let’s move forward inspired by progress, committed to transformative education and mentorship, to shape a more inclusive and innovative future in technology.”

Poonam Puthran, Executive Vice President – Banking at Aurionpro “We are honoured to be part of a movement where women are at the forefront of technology, breaking barriers, and leading with vision. This International Women’s Day, we celebrate the incredible women in tech who inspire and pave the way for others. Within Aurionpro Solutions, ‘Inspiring Inclusion’ isn’t just a theme, it’s the cornerstone of our approach.

Empowering women in technology is our commitment and we are dedicated to championing inclusivity, embracing diversity, and fostering a workplace where every voice is valued. Together, we ignite inclusion and cultivate an environment of innovation that propels us toward collective success.

In the dynamic world of technology, women play a pivotal role in shaping the landscape. With their leadership and resilience, we chart a course towards excellence, driving our organization forward with purpose and determination. Today, we stand together, proud of our achievements and inspired by the limitless possibilities ahead.”

Geetha Ramanna, Director, Software Development and Network Security, Sophos “Within the cybersecurity industry, there is a strong need to invest in and embrace the potential of women to transform the sector. In my experience, working in an environment where mentorship is encouraged, and robust support systems thrive, can be a game-changer and opens up several doors for our growth. Cybersecurity is a highly dynamic space, with its fair share of complexities. Being able to efficiently work in such an environment requires innovative thinking, adaptability and empathy- the qualities that women excel in. An increase in representation in the sector is not only about diversity, it’s about ensuring a more resilient and inclusive digital world. As we move ahead, we look forward to a world with increased inclusivity and seeing more women techies thrive in the cybersecurity space.”

Puneet Gupta, vice president & managing director, NetApp India/SAARC “Witnessing the impactful role women play in sales and tech has been truly inspiring. I draw inspiration from their strength and tenacity. Their dedication and innovative approaches constantly drive our team forward. Women bring with them unique perspectives and unwavering determination which serve as a constant reminder of the limitless potential we possess when we embrace diversity and collaboration in the workplace.

Diversity is an important pillar for NetApp, and we are consistently increasing our women representation across ranks. At the same time, our journey is not confined to numbers; it extends to creating an ecosystem
where every individual can thrive regardless of gender. I take pride in seeing the achievements of the women at NetApp. They’re not just driving technological advancements but are actively shaping a future where innovation breaks through gender stereotypes.”

Aruna C. Newton, Vice President, Head – Diversity and Inclusion, ESG Governance & Reporting, Infosys “At Infosys, we celebrate the inspiring journeys of our women employees who are shaping the future of technology across industries. We have built several high quality, very intentional developmental interventions, that are active year-long, to affirm our commitment to enable women to enjoy the careers they aspire for. Some examples include,
‘#amTheFuture’ a leadership coaching program, in partnership with Stanford GSB, the Infosys ‘Orbit Next’ program for managers, ‘Tech Cohere’ a program that focuses on nurturing and building a vibrant and collaborative tech community of engineers, architects and technologists to refine architecture design and software engineering practices, and mentorship interventions. Our efforts extend to nurturing the creation of powerful supportive ecosystems that inspire inclusion. Our campaign for International Women’s Day 2024 #SpotltToStoplt, focuses on action that all stakeholders including women themselves can take to create awareness around microaggressions that are the result of unconscious gender bias and act on them to inspire inclusion.”

Mamta Roy, Founder – Odette “Recognizing the vital role women play in every industry, I believe that true overall progress can blossom only when diversity thrives. The importance of women’s inclusion cannot be overstated – it brings forth diverse perspectives, celebrates creativity, and promotes collective success. We must break barriers, value each other, and create spaces where every woman’s voice is not just heard but cherished as well.

As we celebrate Women’s Day, we at Odette are all about embracing the uniqueness of every woman. Having women working with us isn’t just a way of working at Odette– it’s a powerful thread that weaves through our journey. Let’s continue fostering environments where every woman’s voice is not only valued but integral to our collective progress.”

Vidita Kochar, Cofounder, Jewelbox “At Jewelbox, everyday is a Women’s Day because 1 out of our 10 buyers are first time diamond buyers and that is big reason for us to celebrate. Like many other womenenpreneurs, I am also excited to celebrate the occasion. For me, Women’s day is not merely an occasion but it is a positive and impactful progression that is inspiring women across ages and societies to break the shackles of orthodoxy and bring more substance to their lives in terms of being independent.”
“It is an occasion that strongly celebrates and advocates gender equality, creating equal opportunities, encouraging womenpreneurs and Jewelbox’s lab-grown diamonds caters to women from all walks of life and make them feel special in their own way. As they say heera hai sada ke liye, now we can proudly say heera hai sabke liye!.”

Abby Payne, Chief People Officer, SailPoint “Leaders who prioritize diversity of thought and representation set organizations up for long-term success. At SailPoint, we have a strong network of leadership allies who champion development and career growth for women across our business. Our hiring team partners with an organization that specifically supports women who are returning to the workforce after being in a caregiving role. We also focus on assessing employees’ potential, not just their experience, which creates more opportunities for women to grow into leadership roles. We have built an inclusive culture by offering flexible work policies, health and wellness benefits, and employee resource groups to support women as they develop their careers.”

Arati Porwal, Country Head, CFA Institute “While we have come a long way in improving workplace inclusivity, gender equity continues to be a persistent issue in the investment management industry. For instance, CFA Institute’s ‘Mind the Gap’ report released last year, revealed that only 2 in 10 employees within financial services companies are women. We are committed to supporting gender diversity through our activities which include creating a DEI code in Europe and America, reporting on gender parameters across industries in India, providing mentorship avenues to women charter holders and curating capability development programs to support their professional growth. The onus is on organisations to foster a progressive environment for women through equitable hiring, merit-based promotion, and actively propagating women leadership. At the same time, women need to take ownership of their career progression, surround themselves with enablers and resiliently stay on their career paths.”

Dr. Sara Varughese, Managing Trustee, CBM India Trust  “We recognize the profound intersection of disability and gender, especially within marginalized communities. Women with disabilities often face compounded challenges, yet possess immense potential and resilience. We believe investing in their inclusion empowers not just them but unlocks progress for entire communities. Through our initiatives, we aim to address these multiple layers of discrimination, dismantle barriers, and equip women with and without disabilities with the resources they need to achieve their goals and lead independent lives. In the last fiscal year, almost 45% of the persons with disabilities we reached were women.

Through our recent efforts, we reached over 650 women—including over 100 women with disabilities and women who care for family members living with disabilities—in 85 villages of Karnataka’s Anekal Taluk through income-generating and climate resilience support. Thanks to this initiative, about 200 women received funds and training for farming and non-farming activities, and more than 100 women completed our tailoring courses and received sewing machines, with 60% successfully launching their own businesses.

Additionally, in line with our commitment to gender equity, 58% of participants in our training courses on Community-Based Inclusive Development are women. These courses have the objective of making the process of development more inclusive and strengthening the knowledge and skills of professionals working with persons with disabilities at the grassroots level. At CBM India, our resolve is stronger than ever to support women—with and without disabilities—paving the way for a more inclusive and just society. Our actions today are creating a legacy of empowerment, demonstrating that investing in women is not a choice, it’s a necessity to drive progress and create sustainable solutions for the planet.”

Dr. Jessie Jamieson, Staff Research Engineer, Tenable “Cybersecurity thrives on diversity in thought and perspective.

“True progress in this field necessitates more than simply meeting diversity quotas; it demands the cultivation of a culture rooted in inclusivity, where every voice, including those of neurodiverse individuals, is not only heard but valued and respected.

“By creating environments that champion neurodiversity, organisations not only broaden their talent pool but also bolster their cybersecurity capabilities and resilience in the face of an increasingly hostile digital landscape. It’s not just about embracing differences; it’s about harnessing them to innovate, adapt, and thrive in the ever-evolving realm of cybersecurity.”

Ms Vijayashree Natarajan, Senior VP and Head of Technology, Omega Healthcare for Women’s Day “Investing in women isn’t just about promoting gender equity; it’s a strategic necessity for advancing the healthcare sector. Women in healthcare, especially in IT roles, often grapple with the delicate balance of personal and professional responsibilities. To truly thrive, organizations must actively support and retain these women, leveraging their diverse perspectives and expertise to drive innovation through technology and ensure patient-centered care. Beyond technical skills, women bring invaluable cognitive diversity, including empathy, creativity, and collaboration, enriching the workforce. By empowering, celebrating, and investing in women, we propel the transformation of healthcare systems worldwide.”

Ms. Gauri Tandle, CFO, Ashwin Sheth Group “Achieving a balance between professional and personal life for women in the real estate sector entails navigating unique challenges while seizing opportunities for flexibility and satisfaction. In an industry marked by relentless demands and ever-evolving expectations, balancing work and personal life becomes an essential requirement. Female leaders in real estate demonstrate a deep understanding of balancing professional aspirations with personal fulfilment through setting clear boundaries, making wise priorities, and embracing flexibility. By committing to regular exercise, and mindfulness practices, and readily seeking support, when necessary, we enhance our effectiveness as leaders. As pioneers in our field, we must recognize the importance of integrating work and personal life, creating a framework where success in our careers and fulfilment in our personal lives complement each other seamlessly.”

Suja George Thottacherry, Lead Technology Program Manager, Sabre “Inspiring inclusion isn’t just about opening doors; it’s about creating a welcoming space where every voice is heard, every perspective is valued, and every person feels like they truly belong. True inclusion sparks a collective energy, igniting creativity, innovation, and empathy. It’s about recognizing that our strengths lie in our unique identities and experiences, and our unity comes from embracing those diversities. To inspire inclusion is to acknowledge the inherent worth of every individual, regardless of their background, belief, or circumstances. As a program manager, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of inclusion. During one of our brainstorming sessions recently, we had individuals from various backgrounds and skill sets in the room. Initially, some team members seemed hesitant to speak up, perhaps feeling like their ideas weren’t as valuable as others. A junior team member, who had been quiet at first, eventually shared a brilliant solution that nobody had considered. It was a pivotal moment that highlighted the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels empowered to contribute. In the dance of inclusion, we find harmony amidst diversity, creating a symphony of belonging filled with acceptance, respect, and love.”

Parul Dhir, Head – Diversity Equity and Inclusion, Acuity Knowledge Partners “As we celebrate International Women’s Day, it’s important to remember that the path to gender equality isn’t just about personal success; it’s about the collective empowerment of women. Empowering diversity and fostering inclusion isn’t just a goal; it’s our vision. I inspire inclusion by promoting self-reflection, continuous learning & growth. We as industry leaders are in a unique position to lead the way because when we empower other women, we don’t just elevate ourselves – we empower our workplaces, communities, and society as a whole. When we support each other, share knowledge, and open doors for one another, we empower ourselves to become unstoppable forces for change.

The best way to mark this International Women’s Day is for women to pledge to empower other women, lend them a hand and build a safe space that is inclusive for all. Let’s all commit to becoming mentors, allies and advocates, knowing that every woman’s success is a victory for gender diversity and that together, we can build an inclusive world that celebrates the contributions of every woman.”

Seetha Rani KP, Head of Human Resources, Philips Innovation Campus (PIC), Bengaluru “Women have long been the unsung heroes especially in healthcare as evidenced during the pandemic. Their indomitable spirit coupled with unwavering determination will not only shape a promising tomorrow but also serve as an inspiration for others. International Women’s Day is a day to acknowledge their time-tested and invaluable contributions. With technology being a leveller, and work flexibility more or less a norm, it is only fair to expect more women to unleash their hitherto restrained potential to envision grand possibilities, shatter barriers, and redefine the limits of achievement.”

Ramya Parashar, Chief Technology Officer, MiQ “As a leader and a woman who has navigated the complexities of the corporate world, this International Women’s Day, under the theme ‘Inspire Inclusion,’ I reflect on the importance of crafting spaces that not only welcome diversity but thrive on it. Inclusion is not just about opening doors for women; it’s about ensuring that once inside, they have a seat at the table, a voice that’s heard, and the power to effect change. As industry leaders, we have the responsibility and privilege to set an example for our organizations, that inclusion is not just a policy, but a core value lived out daily. Let’s commit to being architects of environments where every voice is heard, every contribution valued, and every success celebrated—collectively. Our mission should be to not only break barriers but to build bridges, fostering a culture where everyone, irrespective of gender, can strive for and achieve success. Inclusion starts with us. Together, we can create a movement that changes workplaces, communities, and the world. Remember, inclusion starts with ‘I’—it’s personal, powerful, and transformative. Let’s be the change we wish to see and inspire inclusion in every action we take.”

Supriya Goswami, Vice President of Product Marketing at Whatfix “This International Women’s Day, the theme of “Inspire Inclusivity” resonates deeply within the tech industry, particularly in the context of women returning to STEM fields after career breaks. It is required for companies to focus and recast the process that promotes women’s return to work. Companies fostering an environment that values diverse experiences and perspectives not only champion gender equality but also drive innovation and growth.

As the pace of technological advancement increases, it’s imperative for women on career breaks to proactively stay abreast of industry trends and enhancements. Upskilling and continuous learning become pivotal in ensuring they return as competitive, valuable members of the tech community. As the whole world celebrates International Women’s Day, let’s commit to creating more inclusive workplaces where every woman has the opportunity to pursue her career ambitions, irrespective of the pauses life may require.”

Mr. Ashish Saraf, VP and Country Director, Thales – India “At Thales, we take great pride in honouring the achievements of our women globally. Our women engineers based at our engineering centers in India are instrumental in driving innovation within Thales, serving as a source of inspiration for the entire organisation. We are pleased to have been recognised by Avtar and Seramount as one of the ‘Top 100 Companies for Women in India’ for the fifth consecutive year in 2023, a testament to our ongoing commitment to gender equality. We believe that a diverse team can support higher performance in the workplace, and we remain committed to providing equal opportunities to women in an inclusive, safe, and respectful work environment.”

Sadina, Export Manager, Speedways Electric “On this International Women’s Day, I reflect on my journey at Speedway Electric, a journey that commenced as an intern and has now led me to the helm of the exports department in just 1.5 years. This represents a significant triumph, symbolizing substantial personal and professional growth. Speedway Electric has proven to be a nurturing environment, especially considering it was my first job. The positive atmosphere and unwavering encouragement from our Founder, Mr. Sumit Aneja, have fostered a strong sense of belonging since my internship days.
Leading the exports department is more than just a job for me; it is a responsibility to guide my team towards progress and contribute to the overall success of the company. In this era where electric vehicles are shaping the future, I take pride in being a part of Speedway Electric and am eagerly anticipating the exciting journey that lies ahead.
This Women’s Day, let’s celebrate the achievements of women who are breaking barriers and acknowledge the supportive environments that enable their success. Wishing everyone a Happy International Women’s Day!”

Pragya Chopra, OnOffOnline Marketing Agency, Founder of OnOffOnline Marketing Agency “2024 is the year for women in marketing. It’s the beginning of an era where women’s highly optimised intuition works in their favour for business. The perspective of a mother, wife, daughter, sister, female, she/her is the driving power behind purchase decisions – it’s always been – but now it’s evidently undeniable and it’s about time where the woman’s perspective is celebrated. It’s a powerful time to be a woman, and together – we can equalise.”
