By Kiran Dham

Education has advanced from being limited to brick-and-mortar teaching methods to easily accessible digital screens with a wide range of learning opportunities as a result of technological advancements. Along with making education more accessible to students, edtech has developed other exceptional services, such as video-assisted remote education, immersive and on-demand learning, that have enhanced student comprehension and given a constructive learning environment. The government has also taken steps to encourage and push for digitalization in education, adopting a national education policy 2020 that underlines the importance of using technology into educational solutions in order to enhance access to education.

The impact of education technology on distance learning

Increasing access to education: By leveraging digital platforms and resources, students from all over the world can now access high-quality educational content that was previously only available in classrooms. Edtech allows for schedule flexibility, allowing students to learn at their own speed and overcome challenges such as distance and time constraints. This inclusiveness empowers students who might otherwise be excluded from educational possibilities.

Affordability of education: Obtaining an education was always thought to be prohibitively expensive, but technology advancements have made it possible. Edtech has made learning more accessible to pupils by allowing them to access education from the comfort of their own homes. Furthermore, it eliminates the cost of travel and accompanying educational resources, making remote learning a popular alternative among individuals.

Advanced learning materials: The days of textbooks as the main source of learning for pupils are long gone. As educational technology has advanced, a wealth of multimedia-centric learning materials have arisen, offering students with enhanced learning opportunities. These digital learning resources not only improve their knowledge but also have a good impact on their academic performance, resulting in favourable outcomes.

Providing educators with tools and resources: Educators can use digital platforms to effectively develop, organise, and deliver educational content. Edtech provides online platforms for teachers and students to collaborate and communicate effectively, as well as advanced tools for evaluation, results, and feedback.

Self-directed learning: Students have more control and flexibility over their education with remote learning. As a result, they have more time to devote to areas that require greater attention. Self-directed remote education, when combined with media-focused content, not only allows students to learn at their own pace but also dramatically increases their understanding.

Experts are easily accessible: Students can now receive instruction from specialists from the comfort of their own homes, thanks to advances in educational technology. Expert assistance, media-focused content, and self-education all enable students to build and benefit from a tailored learning environment that promotes personal growth and development.

From the classroom to the internet!

The advent of educational technology has transformed the concept of education, opening up a plethora of alternatives for students. It has not only made education more accessible, but it has also equally empowered teachers and students. Edtech’s unique technologies can ensure that the full potential of technology is absorbed to provide a highly inclusive and collaborative educational experience in a remote context.

In today technologically advanced world, the growing popularity of remote learning gives students more control over their study.  Remote education not only improves their knowledge and comprehension, but it also prepares them for their future development.
