India SME Forum in conversation with Amazon’s Country Manager for India Consumer Business

Forum for Internet Retailers, Sellers and Traders has emerged as a platform for both offline and online sellers and traders to come together towards achieving the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. In a special session for members of the forum, Mr. Vinod Kumar, President of India SME Forum (ISF) had a conversation with Manish Tiwary, Country Manager, India Consumer Business, Amazon India. The session focused on how Indian MSMEs can flourish in the transformative digital era by enhancing their business focus during the festive season.

Offering his insights Mr. Manish Tiwary stressed, “The most important thing for any business owner is to focus on the customer. Their reviews and feedback can either make or break your brand. At Amazon, we always put the customers first followed by our sellers.”

Mr. Tiwary underscored the pivotal role of e-commerce as an engine for digital transformation, driven by factors such as India’s burgeoning economy, increased internet penetration, and rapid advancements in digital payment methods. He elaborated on Amazon’s journey in India over the last ten years that has played a key role in the growth of India’s ecommerce sector and given a boost to entrepreneurship particularly in tier two and tier three cities.

 

He discussed the various tools and programs available to assist sellers, enabling them to optimize their supply chains, maximize profitability, and execute seamless operations even in peak sale seasons. These encompass Amazon’s self-service registration 2.0, the sale event planner, and multi-channel fulfilment services.

The conversation also touched upon Amazon’s initiatives to empower women entrepreneurs and artisans and weavers in India through programs like Amazon Saheli and Amazon Karigar. These programs provide discounted fees and account management. In his message to budding MSMEs, he stated, “There’s never been a better time to embark on an entrepreneurial journey and ecommerce presents a global opportunity. The key to success lies in thinking big.”

In conclusion, Mr. Kumar reiterated the imperative of igniting the entrepreneurial spirit across India, harnessing the immense potential of the e-commerce marketplace during the festive season to extend their reach. As the future of e-commerce shines brighter, it will provide entrepreneurs with a robust platform to cultivate their brands.
