What is Results-based management (RBM)?
Results-based management (RBM) is defined as orienting all action and resource utilisation towards obtaining clearly defined and verifiable results. RBM boosts openness and accountability, enabling interventions to work in tandem and prevent overlapping and waste. The effectiveness of investment projects and plans can be significantly increased by three interrelated processes, namely good planning, monitoring, and evaluation (M&E). Effective planning assists in directing resource allocation and subsequent execution towards the outcomes that matter. Effective M&E assists in assessing progress towards the achievement of results and in learning from the past so that future initiatives can more effectively contribute to development impacts.
How has ZOMOZ integrated RBM into its system?
ZOMOZ has a culture of data-driven decision-making, continuous learning, and accountability. RBM takes a life-cycle approach, starting with Planning. Subsequently, they devise the implementation with respect to the inputs needed, activities to be performed by various stakeholders, and the desired outputs of the stakeholders to achieve outcomes. Once the implementation starts, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) becomes key to ensuring desired outputs and, as a result, the achievement of overall outcomes.
