Lenovo offers end-to-end solutions from the pocket to cloud.

CXOToday has engaged in an exclusive interview with  Mr. Rohit Midha, Director – Services Sales, Lenovo India

What does “as a service” (aaS) mean, and why is it important for businesses to upscale using this model?

As consumers, the aaS model is not new to us. Over the past few years, our consumption patterns be it entertainment or vehicles are a testament to the world moving towards a consumption-based model. In the enterprise space, let us step back and understand how the business environment is evolving.  A recent study conducted by Lenovo with 500 CTOs, revealed how traditional IT is evolving into a ‘New IT’ architecture where client devices, edge computing, cloud computing, network and intelligence are all working together to address pain points and provide solutions that enable further global digitalization across all industries.

The aaS model signifies changes in the way IT is getting consumed by enterprises where businesses are procuring end-to-end services with solutions covering from the pocket to cloud, that are also easy to scale up or down, upload, and download as per their requirements, with minimal upfront capital costs. We expect the aaS market to grow exponentially as more businesses move towards hybrid work environments.

How are sustainability requirements and the CIO’s evolving position influencing the demand for aaS IT?

IT leaders are today responsible for the entire value chain – from navigating complex tech ecosystems, supporting businesses in their digital transformation journey, helping employees adapt to tech-driven workspace and all this, while managing a global shortage in IT talent and above all, taking a front seat in driving their organization’s net-zero efforts.

In the coming decade, smart and sustainable technology choices will dominate decision-making.   AaS allows businesses to make these conscious choices along products’ life cycles.  For instance, we offer sustainable services such as Asset Recovery and CO2 offsetting capabilities.

Our Asset Recovery Services helps companies mitigate environmental and data security risks associated with end-of-life asset disposal while maximizing value potential.  It is an end-to-end solution for secure, environmentally compliant, documented IT assets and data disposition. Thus, IT managers and leaders can focus on other critical tasks in the organization.

Lenovo’s CO2 Offset Service is another unique offering available at the point of purchase for new devices as well as for the existing fleet where businesses can offset carbon emissions associated with Lenovo PCs and servers.

Finally, aaS frees in-house IT teams from the repetitive tasks of managing IT infrastructure to deliver digital innovation and growth for their businesses.

Even as Lenovo’s CO2 Offset Services saw an impressive uptake since its launch in 2021, Lenovo TruScale offers technology equipment and services on a subscription or a pay-as-you-go aaS model, minimizing waste throughout the value chain. For example, TruScale helps companies reuse and recycle end-of-life IT equipment, which strengthens the circular economy and curbs wastage.

What does Lenovo offer under their TruScale Solution?
